Technology Integration-Portfolio

This document describes how a teacher would use the website Symbaloo to create student portfolios for a 7th grade class. The teacher would use Symbaloo to organize important websites and resources for students to access. Students could design their own Symbaloo page with personal websites and resources to stay organized and on task. The teacher rates the technology integration idea as a 2, as it aligns to content standards and would likely increase student engagement, but the class could function without it.

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

This website works as a visual organizer for the students. It displays all of the key websites/resources needed for the classroom
along with some additional ones that can help benefit the students.

INTEGRATION IDEA - PORTFOLIOS

How might you use this resource in a lesson plan to promote student-centered learning?

I would use this website in order to keep the students on task and organized during the school year. Having everything at the
student’s fingertips will help them focus and maintain their own organization. It allows the students to explore and use
technology to have all different resources available to them and learn how to navigate around those websites. Students can have
the ability to design their own Symbaloo with personal websites or whichever keeps them on task and successful in their learning.
Related to my project proposal, the students can create their object/picture/word using the mathematical resources to study the
lessons and build the graphs on desmos or GeoGebra.

I designated an area in the symbaloo for mental health and motivation, so the students can monitor their feelings and emotions.
It can also be a way to manage their stress and keep the students updated on current events and educational aspects.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
 Based on the “value-added rating scale” above, how would you rate the technology integration you described, using the
selected resource?
 Explain your rating based on the rubric indicators.

I would give this technology integration a 2 because it aligns to content standards and only used for students to navigate around
the resources of the classroom, but the class will be able to go without symbaloo. This will help the students stay on task and stay
engaged so that is why I chose the rating 2 but keeping the websites in all one area isn’t necessary for success in the classroom.
Although the idea is interesting and offers many resources for the students to explore, there can be other ways of organization
within the classroom.
