QM II Assignment JCG Global Air Services

The document outlines an optimization problem to minimize the total cost of fuel and ramp fees for an aircraft trip. It provides details on the costs per gallon of fuel and ramp fees, fuel tank capacity constraints, and minimum and maximum weights for takeoff and landing. The objective is to determine the optimal fueling plan at each airport to minimize overall costs while meeting all constraints. An example solution is provided for a CE750 aircraft with a total cost of $11,645.16.

QM II Assignment

JCG Global Air Services

• Data: Ramp fee, $/gallon, Minimum gallons filled to waive fee, minimum and maximum
weight while taking off and landing, fuel tank capacity, maximum ramp weight and
maximum landing weight, BOW.
• Decision: Fuel plan for the upcoming trip
• MoP: Minimise the total cost (ramp cost and fuel cost)
• Constraints: 1. Minimum and maximum fuel while landing
2. Minimum and maximum fuel while taking off
3. Mandatory fuel level up

Objective Function: Minimize

3.97C1 + 8.35C2 + 7.47C3 + 6.01C4 +3.97C5 + 800D1 + 450D2 + 400D3

Constraints:
• Fuel available in tank + Fuel filled in source and destination port – Fuel burned <=
Maximum tank capacity
• Fuel available in tank + Fuel filled in source port – Fuel burned >= Minimum tank
capacity
• BOW + Fuel weight + No. of passengers*200 <= Maximum landing weight
• BOW + Fuel weight + No. of passengers*200 <= Maximum Ramp weight
• Minimum no. of gallons filled to waive ramp fee*6.7*(1-binary waiver) <= fuel filled in
airport

Di= Binary value of fee waiver (0-waived, 1-not waived)
