COURSE CATALOG DESCRIPTION:

In this course you will learn the skills needed to become a successful leader of digital technology. Everyone is
aware that social media, big data, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of things are changing our world. While
this digital technology is properly a matter of concern for consumers, businesses, and society, it also affords
countless opportunities for enterprises and individuals to develop new services and products, improve existing
practices and processes, and open new totally new markets, jobs, and careers. The focus of this course is on
exploring “best practices” from successful corporations and enterprises to identifying and exploiting
opportunities in digital technology businesses in the future.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

o Understand the latest technologies and related new product/services (artificial intelligence, internet of things,
cloud computing) which have disrupted existing industries and created new ones
o Understand how digital technology organizations are different from and how they are similar to successful
businesses in non-technical organizations.
o Align new product development activities with corporate strategies for more effective customer and client
partnerships
o Identify business opportunities for new services and practices that are likely to be successful in the global high
technology marketplace of the future
o Know how to build a successful organization and how to motivate and inspire technical staff, teams, and
managers
o Understand entrepreneurial and corporate practices and develop strategies become managers of exciting, new
business enterprises

Each session includes exercises, guided discussions, and case studies that will demand participation and
interaction with the instructor and other participants.

Learning teams will be assigned at the second week’s sessions. Over the remainder of the course the teams will
develop specific plans to apply the principles, tools, practices, and techniques learned in the course to enhance
specific business practices and career development.
