CHAPTER 6.2. Converting A CPM Into Precedence Diagram

The document provides instructions for converting a Critical Path Method (CPM) diagram into a precedence network diagram. It states that one should 1) replace the starting event with a start node, 2) replace activities with precedence nodes, 3) replace the finishing event with a finish node, 4) perform a forward pass, and 5) perform a backward pass. It then provides two examples of converting a CPM diagram into a precedence network diagram.

Converting a CPM Diagram into Precedence

Network Diagram
Once you have drawn the CPM diagram:
1. Replace the 1st event or node of the CPM with a Start node (they are equal)
2. Replace every activity on the CPM with a precedence diagram node
3. Replace the last event or node on the CPM diagram with a Finish node (they are equal)
4. Do the forward pass
5. Do the backward pass
