documents required for the internship program of College of Engineering Computer Studies and
Technology.
On The Job Training are part of a college curriculum that aims to train and orient students about
the work and their future career but to show students the reality about working. OJT is very important
not only to teach students their chosen career but to show students the reality about working. OJT will
be your training ground. If you still have no idea on what is meant to be a worker, OJT will give you at
least 10% of career realities. Your background OJT experience is very important when applying a job.
Employers often asked about the OJT experience and how it is related on the job that you are applying
for.
Most students have taken their OJT for granted; not realizing the importance it can bring on
their future career. Having a good performance during OJT is very important especially now that there’s
a tight competition towards job seekers and the high qualification of companies.
On the job training or OJT is one method by which students is given a chance to apply the
theories and computations that they have learned from the school. It also helps the students to acquire
relevant knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting. Colleges and universities require
their students to undergo such training within a specific number of hours as part of the curriculum. For
the students, an OJT or internship program provides opportunities to go through the actual
methodologies of a specific job using the real tools, equipment’s and documents. In effect, the
workplace becomes a development venue for a student trainee to learn more about his chosen field and
practice what he has learn from academy. On the other hand, an effective OJT program also benefits the
companies who accept trainees. First OJT or intern provides additional manpower for a lesser labor cost
than a regular employee. Most of them are all eager to learn the ropes so chances are high that they will
cooperate. Employers can use this internship strategy as a method in recruiting new employees. Since
the trainer or the supervisor can follow the trainees’ progress, he can gauge based on performance,
behaviour and attitude if the trainee will make a good recruit after the completion of his internship.
OJT’s can bring fresh ideas into the organization. Given the opportunity to speak their minds freely and
without fear, they may be able to contribute significantly in brainstorming sessions or research and
eventually help improve the organizations productivity. While training the interns, employers are in fact
also teaching their employees to process of guiding the trainees stretches their patience, develops
teaching skills and makes them more sensitive to the needs and mind set of the younger generation. The
course of supervision also teaches them how to share what they know and be receptive to questions.
Hence, the internship also becomes an avenue in training for future managers of the company.
Accommodating on-the-job trainees can truly be beneficial not only to the trainees but also to the
companies that provide opportunities for this type of learning. There is wisdom in the front lines. Such
training can be an investment that will be valuable to the company later on. This is also why trainees
should take their internship seriously as it can become a powerful tool and possibly even a source of
recommendation when they take that big lift from being students to career professionals.
Acknowledgment
The OJT student wishes to extend his graceful acknowledgement of the effort of all those who
were instrumental in the accomplishment of this narrative report. The completion of this narrative
report depends not only on the hard work and perseverance of the OJT student but also whit the
The company created a good service to their clients and gave the best training for the students.
The students must have a good company that would give them a good training ground and would
enhance their knowledge and capabilities. The school must have the good coordination for some
companies that offer an annual On the Job Training inside their company. The school should provide
more budgets given to the OJT coordinators to have the best monitoring of the training the students are
taking. One of the best ways of training is the provincial trainings that would give different experiences
to the trainees. An out of town training would give more self-esteem to the students. The mechanical
engineering students have their training every 4th year and second semester of the year. It is more
efficient if they will take it 5th year of their last semester. In some cases having their training during
their 4th year of school would sometimes affect the rhythm of their schooling because in mechanical
engineering the students OJT have their preferred pre-requisite subjects that once not taken would give
a big effect to the arrangement of the student’s subjects. Instead of the regular schedule of years of
studying, once being affected by the pre-requisite subjects, the students would waste some of the time
spending for the subjects affected by the OJT. For the company, they should give more lectures on the
technical parts of the company like Auto Cad and Mechanical Devices used by the Department.
OJT Experience
I can’t search for the company but I decided to start my on-the-job training at Library
Department in STI College Calamba last November 15, 2012. First of all, I’m very much gratified for the
support and understanding of my superiors especially on times when I just committed mistakes. More
than any learning though in library area, I learned to be with others, to work with one student assistants
because S.A. teaches me to do in library. My training supervisor, Mrs. Emabel C. Villa who could write it
on the paper so that she shows me about work and something. I learn to accept it and be apologetic for
my mistakes. But I tried to learn about something and no action mistake. She has observed my activities
and practices every day. I was assigned to the Library Department. I was able to work as well.
Next day, shyness and nervousness are always when it’s my first time. For many reason, student
do not know me in the Library because of my deafness. I do not have any actual experience. But student
approached me to be understood. I feel happy and comfortable in the Library Department. And even I’m
just a trainee. It doesn’t make me feel uncomfortable as I worked. I later learned to work with longer
patient. Most of the time, students approach me about library cards, borrowing books and the use of PC
in the library. I’m very kind to help them every day. They understand me. They wanted to say thanks to
me every day. I communicated with them. I have a fun working with the other student assistants. And
myself, I’m willing to work especially in arranging the book shelves, check the number of book, check the
library card, check the list of price and keep the money to give it to Mrs. Villa.
Until January 24, I finished my 200 hours. I desired to be successful in life. I always trust in God
because he follows me everywhere. I’m very thankful to him. I took a rest for a longtime.
Life is a long journey. We are all bestowed with good and not-so-good moments in our life. As we grow
older, we tend to face the hardships of the world. These days, lots of cobwebs have settled around and
it feels as if we have totally forgotten the simple pleasures of life. During our stay in MFV Jose Law
Office, or Opis as what we call it, we experienced a lot of things some were stressful, but most of the
time, it was blissful. We experienced journeying into the unknown parts of the Philippines, from
Kalookan, to Fairview, to Malabon, Tondo, and other places we thought we’d never go to. We
experienced doing things that was very alien to us like using a Stenographic Typewriter, reading SCRA
and SCRI, talking with other lawyers (in English), interviewing clients, and many others. Also the Flexible
time, for someone like me, it was really germane. I wonder where I could find another office that has a
flexible time and still pays me for a whole day. I also experienced being scolded by a court sheriff for
taking pictures inside the court room. It was a very embarrassing experience, albeit a good and funny
one. In fact, this is one of the reason I would never forget being in the Opis. Being with great and funny
supervisors really made our stay in the Opis very worthwhile; in fact I don’t mind the transportation fee,
because when I’m in the Opis, it feels like I’m also at home. And the best thing for me in being in the
Opis, is the food. Hunger is not an option when in the office, whenever sir Ferds, or the other lawyers
drop by, there’s always a pasalubong. And the best of the best things: we can take-out the rest, whether
it’s yellow cab, angels’ pizza, Greenwich, or any food. During our college days, we often face many
difficulties, many problems, but unto one side of the stories, there are those people, the people who
help shape us into someone better. The reason why we are able to surpass this obstacles. I would like to
take this...
