Ques 1. Does Ekohealth's business model result in a large consumer surplus?

Ekohealth’s business model was based on providing affordable healthcare to people


by reducing costs to patients by eradicating referral fees and promoting generic drug
substitution, this has resulted in a huge consumer surplus as the customer saw high
value in the company’s offerings according to customer satisfaction survey. The
process was done through fixed annual subscription of Rs.1500 and market survey
has revealed that the seventy-five percent of people were interested in such
subscription. The subscription covered all the treatments that were not provided by
insurance companies like OPD, consultation, laboratory tests, dental care, cosmetic
treatments etc. and customers found high value in the subscription. The exhibit 4
depicts the savings by Ekohealth patients which is around Rs. 5400 to 13300 per
person.
