Jtag EXTEST Operation

1. The document describes EXTEST and INTEST operations in JTAG. 2. EXTEST loads known data into boundary scan registers using TDI and then performs an external test by loading all zeros into the IR. 3. INTEST similarly loads known data before choosing the INTEST operation by loading 100 into the IR to perform an internal test on chip 1.

JTAG

EXTEST Operation:
1. In-order to do the EXTEST operation in JTAG
2. TDI = 1010 (preload need to be done) with this we are loading the known data in
all the boundary scan registers.(SCAN OPERATION)
TMS=01100…..based on IR size…111 will go to Select DR scan
3. After loading the data in IR we have chosen PRE-LOAD operation ,now we have
to load the known data in boundary scan registers by using TDI to TDO.
TMS = 100….based on BSR’s load the data…111 will go to Select DR.
4. After loading the data in all BSR’s, we have to choose EXTEST operation to
choose by loading all zeroes in IR registers.
TMS = 1100…..Based on IR size (0010)…110 will go to select DR
IR content = 0010
00  Extest operation on Chip-1
10  Capture operation on Chip -2.
5. After loading IR, we have to shift out data using TDO by loading the known data
in TDI
TMS = 100……load known data using TDI based on DR size …..110

INTEST OPERATION:
1. In-order to do the INTEST operation in JTAG
2. TDI = 001(3 Bit) (preload need to be done) with this we are loading the known
data in all the boundary scan registers.(SCAN OPERATION)
TMS=01100…..based on IR size…111 will go to Select DR scan
3. After loading the data in IR we have chosen PRE-LOAD operation ,now we have
to load the known data in boundary scan registers by using TDI to TDO.
TMS = 100….based on BSR’s load the data…111 will go to Select DR.
4. After loading the data in all BSR’s, we have to choose INTEST operation to
choose by loading 100 in IR register.
TMS = 1100…..Based on IR size (100)…110 will go to select DR
IR content = 100
100 INTEST operation on Chip -1.
5. Now, during the CAPTUR DR ,values in DR applied to core and will get captured
in output BSR.
TMS = 0(capture DR)01(shifting DR)….will load known data…110(shifting out
data through TD0).
