Mobile Phone
A mobile phone (also known as a wireless phone or cellular telephone) is a very small
portable radio telephone.
The mobile phone can be used to communicate over long distances without wires. It
works by communicating with a nearby base station (also called a “cell site”) which connects it
to the main phone network. As the mobile phone moves around, if the mobile phone gets too far
away from the cell it is connected to, that cell sends a message to another cell to tell the new
cell to take over the call. This is called a “hand off,” and the call continues with the new cell the
phone is connected to. The hand-off is done so well and carefully that the user will usually never
even know that the call was transferred to another cell.
As mobile phones became more popular, they began to cost less money, and more
people could afford them. Monthly plans became available for rates as low as US$30 or US$40
a month. Cell phones have become so cheap to own that they have mostly replaced pay
phones and phone booths except for urban areas with many people.

The current explosion of digital technology is not only changing the way we live and
communicate but is also profoundly altering our brains. Daily exposure to high
technology—computers, smart phones, video games, search engines like Google—stimulates
brain cell alteration and neurotransmitter release, gradually strengthening new neural pathways
in our brains while weakening old ones. Because of the current technological revolution, our
brains are evolving right now—at a speed like never before.Besides influencing how we think,
digital technology is altering how we feel, how we behave, and the way in which our brains
function.

Television had a fundamental impact on our lives in the past century, and today the average
person’s brain continues to have extensive daily exposure to TV. Scientists at the University of
California, Berkeley, recently found that on average Americans spend nearly three hours each
day watching television or movies, or much more time spent than on all leisure physical
activities combined. But in the current digital environment, the Internet is replacing television as
the prime source of brain stimulation. We rely on the Internet for entertainment, political
discussion, and communication with friends and co-workers.As the brain evolves and shifts its
focus towards new technical skills, it drifts away from fundamental social skills, such as reading
facial expressions during conversation or grasping the emotional context of a subtle gesture.

Giant Tortoise Galapagos

via pinterest.com
The word turtle can be used to refer to different species that are turtle, tortoise and terrapin as
they are in one family with relatively the same morphology and similar appearance.
The biggest turtle in the world is giant tortoise Galapagos and the name is taken from its habitat
that is Galapagos Islands.
The Galapagos tortoise is not only big in size (more than 400 kg of weights and 1, 87 m of
lengths), but also has long life spans in the wild over 150 years and this tortoise is the longest
live animal.
There is no predator for this turtle except human being and in 16 century it was known that the
numbers of population were 250.000.
The population of the Galapagos tortoise was decrease and in 1970 it was known that the total
numbers were 3000. The decline was caused by human over exploitation for the need of meat
and oil.
Since that, the conservation concerning this animal was started and at the beginning in the 20
century the thousands of juveniles were released onto that island.
Now the number of population is estimated to have exceeded more than 19.000.
This time, the International Union for Concervation of Nature classifies the whole species as
vulnerable.
Giant tortoise moves slowly and mostly at early in the morning or at the evening at the grassing
area.
In a day, it has to bask under the sun to heat its temperature. This tortoise sometimes rests in
the wallow of mud or water to protect it body from parasites.
Giant tortoise is an herbivore that eats any grasses, leaves, fruits, vegetables and so on. It eats
and drinks as much as possible and because it has slow metabolism, it can survive without food
and water for more than 6 mounts.
How is that happened?
The tortoise can break down its body fat as a product of supplement to survive in a long time
without food and water. Thus, whenever it meets some food and water, it eats and drinks as
much as possible.
