CONTENT STANDARD : Writing 4.1 Form letters and words in neat legible print
using cursive writing

Writing 4.3 Communicate with appropriate language


form and style for a range of purposes in print and
digital media
LEARNING STANDARD : Writing 4.1.2 Use cursive writing in written work *all
children

Writing 4.3.2 Spell most high frequency words


accurately in guided writing
LEARNING OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
1) trace and write 5 sentences using cursive writing in
respective groups.
2) spell 4 words correctly based on the indicators given
CROSS CURRICULAR ELEMENTS : Language

*ACTIVITIES : i. PRE-LESSON : Decoding Activity


1. Pupils in groups are given an envelope containing
words that they have to decode.
2. Pupils write the answer in cursive writing.
3. Teacher chooses pupils at random to write the
answers on the board.
ii. LESSON DEVELOPMENT : Rebus Activity
1. Pupils are introduced to adverbs of frequency and
their indicators.
e.g sometimes

2. Pupils are given example of sentences to make them
understand better on the usage of the adverbs.
e.g I usually skate before dinner.
She sometimes plays chess.
3. Individually, pupils are given a worksheet to be
completed.
4. Pupils need to replace the picture of indicators with
the correct words.
5. Pupils exchange the worksheet with another person
to check their answers before discussion with the
teacher.

iii. POST-LESSON : Trace and Rewrite


1. Pupils will be given a worksheet where they have to
trace and rewrite the sentences given in one
paragraph by using cursive writing.
2. Teacher checks the answer group by group.
