Windows ProLink Program
Selecting FILE and COM PORT from the menu will present the user with a screen that allows the user to
select the serial port through which to communicate with the ProLINK, as well as provide for a place
to force an ID into whatever device is connected. When this option is first activated, PL.EXE examines
the Windows system registry for all devices registered as serial communications devices, and places
their friendly names into the drop list provided on this page. In addition, the option of CLOSE is also
added. When the user selects one of the choices in the list, it is immediately saved to the Windows
system registry, and the selected port is then activated. If CLOSE was selected, the currently open port
is then deactivated.

It should also be noted that in legacy controllers, the use of ROP1 and ROP2 are different than in
newer controllers. All controllers use ROP2 when the current progressive amount is equal to or
greater than the Max value, but legacy controllers do not make the distinction that when the Max value
is zero. In older controllers, with the Max value set to zero, ROP1 is always ignored, and ROP2 is
always used as the incrementation rate. pl.exe, during the detection phase, determines whether the
controller uses ROP1 or ROP2 when Max is zero, and adjusts to this behavior when only not in a
Tiered mode. For example, older controllers, when the Tiered option is not selected, will show the
Base / Reset and ROP2 columns, while newer controllers will show the Base / Reset and ROP1
columns.
