5) Lean Six Sigma for Business Process Improvements ( 5 days)

Course Description
In its most simple sense, Six Sigma is a highly disciplined approach to decision making that helps people focus
on improving processes to make them as near perfect as possible.

The term "Six Sigma" relates to the number of mathematical defects in a process. Six Sigma practitioners focus
on systematically eliminating the defects so they can get as close to "zero defects" as possible.

Companies use Six Sigma to reduce variation in products and processes - but the net effect of any Six Sigma
project is what people are really looking for: fewer defects, shorter cycle times, increased capacity and
throughput, lower costs, higher revenues and reduced capital expenditures.
This course consists of instructional sessions and application projects for the trainees.

  COURSE DESCRIPTION

Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis is commonly defined as a systematic process for
identifying potential design and process failures before they occur, with the intent to eliminate
them or minimize the risk associated with them.

Control Plans aid in manufacturing quality products according to customer requirements in

conjunction with QS9000. An emphasis is placed on minimizing process and product
variation. A Control Plan provides "a structured approach for the design, selection, and

IMPLEMENTING POKA YOKE METHODS

Manufacturing Productivity

DURATION DATE (From-To) COURSE FEE

1.00 day(s) 00 00, 0000 - 00 00, 0000 PHP 3,300.00

  COURSE DESCRIPTION

Poka -Yoke is Japanese for mistake proofing. These devices or systems are used either to
prevent the special causes that result in defects, or to inexpensively inspect each item that is
produced to determine whether it is acceptable or defective. The life and soul of production of
any kind is guaranteed quality and the ultimate aim should always be zero defect.

A point overlooked by many manufacturing people is that one defective product for every
10,000 or 100 defects per million is not anymore acceptable today . Customers demand better
than 100 DPM quality and the Poka-Yoke principle is essential in achieving continuously
improving quality performance.

It is therefore important to grasp in any production system that although people can, and do
make mistakes, people don't have to produce defects. This concept leads us to the possibility
of creating a system in which it becomes impossible for people to make mistakes-in other
words, implementing mistake-proofing or Poka -Yoke solutions that minimize the
manufacturer's cost without compromising the product's reliability and quality.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the course, participants are expected to:

  COURSE DESCRIPTION

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) or commonly coined as "end to end "system map, is a powerful Lean tool which
provides a concise snapshot of material and information interaction to bring a certain product or service to the
customer. It is also the blueprint in identifying  small improvement activities with big impact in the production
system. It does not require fancy software to be able to create a VSM; a pencil and paper will do. This is similar to
a process map but it provides better window in conducting waste identification and elimination in the system.
This is especially helpful when working to reduce cycle time, because you gain insight into the decision making
flow in addition to the process flow.

In broad strokes, basic data gathering starts by walking the material and information flow path; starting from
shipping area to receiving area.

Negotiating Successfully
Professional Development

What would you rather be – intimidated and short-changed or composed and victorious? Here’s
the deal. Whether you’re aware of it or not, life is composed of a series of continuous
negotiations. It’s an inevitable part of everyone’s reality. But the question is - do you end up as a
winner?

Here are some reasons why negotiations become more complicated than they really are:

 People make the mistake of coming to the negotiation table totally unprepared. Because
they have no system to speak of, they end up getting pressured or intimidated by their
counterpart. They are forced into accepting a deal even if they know that they’re getting
the short end of the stick.
 They don’t know how to successfully gauge their counterpart so they unwittingly give
too much too soon.
 They either become too reckless or too cautious that they tend to concede at the first hint
of pressure from their counterpart.

In truth, negotiators aren’t able to detect the hidden pressures in a negotiating situation and so are
not able to protect themselves accordingly. Our Negotiating Successfully seminar boasts of a
unique methodology wherein participants go through eleven (11) case studies in combination
with group discussions to fully involve them in the learning process. Whether you are an expert
or novice negotiator, you are sure to get valuable insights that will help you turn ordinary deals
into win-win situations for both of the parties involved. For sure, no one goes home empty-
handed.

After the seminar, participants will:

 Use negotiations as a means by which to develop lasting relationships with your

counterpart
 Arm yourself with complete information to avoid unpleasant surprises
 Defend your opening offer with credibility
 Give and take concessions without losing ground
 Negotiate successfully even from a weak position
 Carefully gauge and manage the risks in the negotiating process
 Discover the tools that increase your power as a negotiator
 Overcome Intimidation, Buffing, Ultimatums, Lying and other pressure tactics of your
counterpart
 Manage the situation when negotiating as a team
 Avoid deadlocks

This program is for account executives, sale supervisors, and sales managers who want to
achieve win-win negotiations.

This two-day course teaches participants how to solve assembly stacks using both traditional and
Six Sigma methods. We highlight the design risks that are associated with the classical methods
of tolerance analysis, and introduce Six Sigma methods that will eliminate these risks.

The goal of the Six Sigma techniques is to teach the participants how to assess the manufacturing
and design risk of their tolerances. This risk is quantified in terms of manufacturing defects and
assembly defects. These methods are unique because they allow the participants to optimize their
designs by making trade-offs between assembly defects and manufacturing defects.
This is a lecture course with many opportunities for participants to work problems. We manually
walk the participants through each of the tolerance analysis and allocation methods. After they
master each method, we show them an Excel spreadsheet that automates each method. This
course is unique because it teaches participants to apply Six Sigma techniques to predict their
design and manufacturing risk before they build parts.

This course covers most of the geometric dimensioning controls used on mechanical engineering
drawings. The theoretical and practical concepts of each of the geometric controls are explained
relative to the areas of design, tooling, production, and inspection. All ten modules include a
quiz. For most modules there are drawing assignments and supplementary information. The parts
of a directional-change gear box are used as platforms for the geometric controls. The assembly
includes shafts, gears, bearings, keys, lip seals, castings, and threaded fasteners. Possession of
the ASME Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing standard is required.
