    2. Special Moment Frame Members

    General Requirements
    wSpecial moment frame members subjected to
    bending and axial load must satisfy the
    provisions of 23.4. These requirements are for
    frame members in regions of high seismic risk or
    for structures assigned to high seismic
    performance or design categories. The

    previous practice.

    that do not satisfy 23.3.1 are to be proportioned
    and detailed according to 23.4.
