Lesson Plan in Mathematics 1

First Quarter

I.Objectives
A. Cognitive: Identify the first, 2nd, 3rd up to the 10th objects in a given set
Psychomotor: Show cooperation in group activities
Affective: Draw pictures of objects to represents the ordinal numbers

Skill: Identifying 1st, 2nd, 3rd up to the 10th object in a given set

Materials: real objects, pictures

III. Preparatory Activities
A. Review
a. Counting real objects 1 – 10
b. Counting objects in the picture

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson


Motivation
Call 10 pupils to participate a race. Several items such as (straw, bottle cover, popsicle sticks
,etc) will be strategically placed for 10 pupils to find . All 10 pupils will return to the starting
points with object. The pupils who participated the race will be given cards with their names
of their position.

OBJECTIVE 1,2

C. Presenting examples instances of the new lesson


Who is the no.1 in the race no.2 no.3 and so on. Have them name the children by saying.
Eden is the no.1 girl in the race. She is the 1st girl in the race and so on.

D. Discussing new concepts and pracicing new skills


I.Game: Group the pupils. Give each group A set of ordinal number cards. Objects are
arranged in a line on the table. The teacher will say an ordinal number. Pupils will match the
ordinal number with the object on the table. The first group to match it gets a point. The
group with the most number of points wins.

What is the 1st letter? What is the 3rd letter
F.Read and Draw
Draw a book in the 2nd box (and so on) (Objective 2,3,4)
G. Making generalization
What words did we used to tell the position of the object in a group? We used 1st, 2nd, 3rd,
4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th.
IV. Evaluation
Present sets of pictures (Objective 9)
a. Color the correct object
V. Assignment
Draw the answer on the blank
