Tier 3 Abyssal guide

by Grim Hood

This fit is for Tier 3 Fierce Exotic abyss sites and at the time of this writing costs ~314 million isk.

What exactly does a Fierce Exotic Filament do? -50% Kinetic resist, +50% scan
resolution(targeting speed). This is applied to every ship in the Abyss. Since the Gila gets a
bonus to Kinetic damage Exotic is the easiest weather effect.

Abyss sites are notorious for their use of energy neutralizers. The Gila is the perfect ship to
counter neuts with its passive shield tank and drone/missile damage. I have run over 200 sites
without fail using this fit. If you die it is because you screwed up somehow. I highly recommend
practicing in Tier 1 and Tier 2 abyss sites before attempting Tier 3.

- FITTING ISSUES -
1. T1 Launchers: 4x Prototype ‘Arbalest’ Rapid Light Missile Launcher w/ Caldari Navy
Scourge Light Missiles(~60 dps lower than T2)
2. Inherent Implants 'Squire' Power Grid Management EG-60X (If you need powergrid. 601
= +1% PG, 602 = +2% PG, etc.)
3. Zainou ‘Gypsy’ CPU Management EE-60X (If you need CPU)

- OPTIONAL GOODIES -
These are a bit overkill in my opinion but can help you survive if you make a big mistake.
1. Zainou 'Gnome' Shield Management SM-703 (+3% shield HP)
2. Zainou 'Deadeye' Guided Missile Precision GP-803(slightly better damage application)
3. Zainou 'Gnome' Shield Operation SP-903(+3% shield recharge)
4. Standard Crash Booster(Improved explosion radius. Has nasty drawbacks; Use only if
you have good Neurotoxin skills).

- TARGET PRIORITY -
You will see these words in their names. The word used depends on the enemy faction, such as
“Starving Leshak” or “Lucid Warden”
1. Starving Leshak - 70km+ neutralizer range but low HP. Easy to kill. If three of them
spawn you will get capped out in about 5 seconds.
2. Energy Neutralizers - Scylla Tyrannos, Starving, Dissipator, Nullcharge, Firewatcher
3. Stasis Webifiers - Scylla Tyrannos, Snarecaster, Entanglement, Entangler, Warden,
Upholder
4. Close Range Triglavians - Vedmak > Damavik
5. Logistics - Fieldweaver/Plateweaver, Preserver, Renewing
6. Everything else

- GENERAL TIPS -
1. Loot ‘n Shoot. Don’t stop moving. You should try to complete the first two rooms in 5
minutes each. This gives you a 10 minute buffer in the final room in case there are any
surprises.
2. Travel time(no overheat): ~20km per 32s, ~50km per 1m 20s, ~80km per 2m 10s.
3. CTRL+Left Click on the EWAR icon(neutralizer, webifier, target painter, etc.) above your
health to target the ships using that module.
4. Don’t be afraid to overheat your afterburner but don’t go beyond 50% heat damage in
room 1 and 2.
5. Sometimes you will clear a room in 2 minutes, giving you plenty of time before going in
the next room to repair that overheated afterburner.
6. As soon as you open a loot container hit “Approach” on the next container and then loot
the container you opened. Otherwise you will just stop and sit next to the open container
wasting valuable time.
7. Ignore “Vila Swarm Drones”. When you destroy the frigates/cruisers the drones will
cease to function. Make sure your Vespas are not auto-attacking the Swarm Drones.
Use the Drone Engage hotkey.
8. Watch out for the battleship “Karybdis Tyrannos”. He/She/It has a lot of HP, deals a ton
of damage, can hit you from ~60km away and moves fast for an abyss battleship. It will
always spawn with multiple cruisers. Overheat your turrets and kill the cruisers ASAP.
My Vespa II’s deal 406 DPS and they have no problem killing Karybdis. If your drone dps
is lower you may need to get close and use your missiles.
