In today's world, the political, economic, and cultural significance of Asian nations is
increasing. Given this growing importance, the Asian Studies Program seeks to foster
understanding of Asia and its role in world civilization as well as its current political, economic
and cultural significance.
As an Asian Studies Major, we are being prepared for range of careers that reaches from
local immigration advocacy groups to work for some of the largest global NGOs such as United
Nations agencies. We are being taught to be an interdisciplinarian where we understand, analyze,
assess, give critics and give possible solutions to different global issues using the
interconnectedness of the different disciplines.
One of the main world problems with today’s time is climate change which by definition
is a change in the statistical properties of the climate system that persists for many decades or
longer—usually a minimum of thirty years. the main cause of climate change is global warming,
that has several negative consequences on physical, biological and human systems, in addition as
alternative effects. climate change will increase the appearance of more violent weather
phenomena, drought, fires, the death of animal and plant species, flooding from rivers and lakes,
the creation of climate refugees and destruction of the organic phenomenon and economic
resources, particularly in developing country.
The world sees climate change as a worldwide threat that’s why authorities proposes a
fight against climate change and its derivative effects a strategic priority. Aligned with the
sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly with n. thirteen - climate action- the
corporate works to mitigate greenhouse emission emissions to contribute to the progress of
society and reply to the most challenges of property development within the field of
infrastructure, water and energy, leading the transition to a coffee carbon economy.
Climate change doesn’t solely influence our life toward land and life on water, it also
affects our livelihood, Health, scarcity of resources and safe places. It also magnifies existing
inequalities, increases chronic instability and poor communities become more vulnerable in such
means that it increases the levels of poverty. United Nations sustainable Development provides a
resolution for peace and prosperity, for individuals and the planet, currently and into the long
run. it's associate pressing need action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global
partnership. They acknowledge that ending poverty and alternative deprivations should go hand-
in-hand with methods that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic
growth – all whereas try climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
This Global issue catches the attention of our Pope Francis. On Care for Our Common
Home (Laudato Si') is the new appeal from Pope Francis addressed to "every person living on
this planet" for an inclusive dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet.
The goal of the dialogue: “I urgently appeal, then, for a new dialogue about how
we are shaping the future of our planet. We need a conversation that includes everyone,
since the environment challenge, we are undergoing, and its human roots, concern and
affect us all”
