Documents/Native Instruments/Kontakt 4/presets/multiscripts

The KS Router multiscript allows combining multiple MIDI channels into a single channel, allowing dynamic switching between channels via latching keyswitches. This is useful for libraries using separate patches for each articulation. It also maximizes the number of instruments that can be loaded per Kontakt instance by taking advantage of Kontakt's 64 internal MIDI channels. The multiscript is installed by copying the file to the proper folder based on Kontakt version. It provides keyswitch control over starting MIDI channels to facilitate switching between articulations loaded on different channels.

The KS Router multiscript is a powerful system for combining multiple MIDI channels into a single MIDI

channel, allowing you to dynamically switch between these MIDI channels by way of latching
keyswitches.

This is especially useful if a library uses separate patches for each articulation--that way you can access
them all from a single MIDI channel, switching between the articulations using keyswitches.

It also allows you to take advantage of Kontakt's total of 64 internal MIDI channels, allowing you to
maximize the amount of instruments loaded per instance of Kontakt.

To install the KS Router multiscript, all you have to do is copy the "KS Router.nkp" file to the proper
folder based on your version of Kontakt.

For Kontakt 4, this folder is located at:

"Documents\Native Instruments\Kontakt 4\presets\multiscripts"

The Kontakt 5 equivalent is:

"Documents\Native Instruments\Kontakt 5\presets\multiscripts"

If you have Kontakt running during this process, be sure to restart it afterwards, so that it can refresh
the installed multiscripts.

The input channel for KS Router is based on the script slot the multiscript is loaded in, so from MIDI
channel 1 through 5. For quick reference, this channel number is displayed in the script's title.

Here are descriptions of the controls and how to operate them:

Starting Note - This is the starting note for chromatic keyswitches generated to switch between MIDI
channels. The keyswitches are generated upward from this note. Unfortunately multiscripts don't have
control over Kontakt's graphical keyboard, so the interface key colors can't be affected.

Total Keyswitches - This is the total number of keyswitches that the instrument has, which essentially
corresponds to the number of MIDI channels you need to be able to switch between.

Starting Channel - This sets the first MIDI channel for the keyswitches to control. For example, if you
have the starting channel set to "2", and the total keyswitches set to "4", it will create four keyswitches
which select between MIDI channels 2 through 5.

Here's an example of a setup, to give you an idea of how to apply the KS Router multiscript to your own
setup.

---

Multiscript slot 1

Starting Note: C1, Total Keyswitches: 4, Starting Channel: 1

Multiscript slot 2

Starting Note: C1, Total Keyswitches: 3, Starting Channel: 5

Multi Rack

MIDI Channel 1: "Violin Ensemble Sustains"

MIDI Channel 2: "Violin Ensemble Staccato"
MIDI Channel 3: "Violin Ensemble Detache"
MIDI Channel 4: "Violin Ensemble Trills"

MIDI Channel 5: "Solo Horn Sustains"

MIDI Channel 6: "Solo Horn Shorts"
MIDI Channel 7: "Solo Horn Rips"

---

In this setup, there are two input MIDI channels, channel 1 and 2. Channel 1 has four keyswitches to
select between violin ensemble articulations, and channel 2 has three keyswitches to select between
solo horn articulations.
