A. Purpose – To minimize the risk of accident/hazard/fatality during filter cloth replacement


B. Scope – Filter cloth replacement of 3 nos Zn Product Filter and a Pb Product Filter
C. Competency Skill and Knowledge
 VTC Trained fitter, welder, helper with ITI or 4 years of experience

D. PREREQUISITES:-
1. Basic Qualification – Experience as Fitter, Mechanic, Welder.
2. Basic Safety Training – VTC Training as per HZL rules
3. Mandatory PPEs – Safety Helmet, Safety Shoes, Dust Mask, Reflector Jacket, Welding Goggles, Hand
Gloves.
4. Tools / Equipment’s –
 General Tools.
 Fiber hammer

D. Activities :
PTW and LOTOTO
Cold work permit to be taken for the job. Electrical isolation of the filter drum is not to be taken
as the drum is to be rotated for Cloth removal and fitting.

1. Filter to be stopped after cleaning the material stuck on the cloth.


2. Gratings to be placed on the filter discharge side to access the top of the filter drum. Before stepping
on the grating, ensure that the gratings are firm and not shaking.
3. Remove the locking rope form the sector slots and keep them for reuse.
4. Cut the filter cloth and remove it by rotating the drum.
5. After the cloth is removed, clean the sectors and check for any damage to the sectors, drum body
and chocking of the vacuum suction holes. Holes to be cleaned. Damaged sector to be replaced. In
case of any damage to the drum body, hot work permit to be taken and the crack is to be patched.
6. After checking the sectors, new cloth is to be put on the drum and locking rope is to be put on the
slots provided to lock it. Gap in the cloth and drum is to be kept to allow swelling of the cloth during
discharge.
7. Wrap the cloth completely around the drum. Cut off the extra cloth from the sides and again hit the
locking rope on the drum with fiber hammer to secure them properly so that they don’t come out.
8. Remove all tools from the site and surrender the permit.
