TIPS FOR GOOD WRITING

• Get ready to think! All writing starts with

ideas inside your mind.

• Gather your materials—pencils, erasers,

paper, and so on.

• Listen to or read instructions carefully.

• If you don’t understand something, raise

your hand for help.

• Give your mind a chance to come up

with good ideas.

• Let your ideas flow onto your paper.

Pause whenever you need to. Then go on.

• Be clear. Write what you mean.

• Don’t let other people or things distract

you. Stick to the task.

• It’s okay to change your mind. If you do,

erase completely.

• Double-check your work. Fix any mistakes

you see.
