ASSESSMENT TOPIC:

COMPANY PORTFOLIO: HANDBOOK FOR NEW EMPLOYEES

1. Assessment details:

- Students work in group of 5 to create an induction protocols and design a


company portfolio for new employees for a company of your choice.
- Your portfolio should be presented in as a Handbook for new Employees.

2. Task description:
- Students find a company of their choice or come up with your own company.
- Students need to demonstrate an overall understanding of the company, industry
sector, employment matters, legal issues in the workplace, taxation and
superannuation.
- The portfolio can be done weekly after each week’s topic.
- Students need to present their project in a professional manner as if it is from a
real company.

3. Task rational: Your induction program and handbook should cover:


 A diagram of the company management structure
 An outline of the legal right and responsibility of full time, part time and casual
employees
 An explanation company working condition and types of leave
 A guide for income tax and superannuation
 An income tax and superannuation declaration form and complete it as an example
for the handbook.
 A guide of company policy about: anti-discrimination, disability supports,
harassment…
 A guide for relevant trade union and outline their importance for employees
 A chart/graph procedure showing the steps in making a complaint for employees.

 An outline of the legal right and responsibility of full time, part time and casual

employees: wages, benefits, hours of work, contract, promotion,

 An explanation company working condition and types of leave: working hours,

uniform, support, holidays, sick leave, maternity leave, long service leave

 A guide for income tax and superannuation: table of personal income tax, graph,

example payslips, superannuation rate, suggested superannuation fund…

 An income tax and superannuation declaration form: completed example tax and

superannuation form, personal information form, consent form (if any) …

 A guide of company policy about: anti-discrimination, disability supports,

harassment, company protocol in work safety…

 A guide for relevant trade union and outline their importance for employees:

available unions in the company, union meeting schedules, benefits from joining a
