DC Motor Aplication As A Conveyor Driver in Plc-Based Separator System Based On Weight
This document describes a PLC-based separator system that uses a DC motor-powered conveyor and various sensors to sort items by weight category. A load cell sensor measures item weights and transmits analog signals converted to digital by the PLC. An infrared sensor counts items in each weight category. Double-acting cylinders then push items onto separate conveyors based on their measured weight. This automated system is estimated to increase sorting efficiency by 75% compared to manual sorting.

Item moving equipment is a very important tool in the industrial world
especially to increase work productivity and time efficiency, however, the selection of the type of carrier used must be adjusted to the level of need which includes the desired capacity and material transfer area (distance and difficulty level of the field) so that the efficiency level obtained becomes optimal. One type of transfer device that is widely used in industry is conveyor. In this system the Load Cell sensor is used to measure the weight to be weighed where the sensor will respond in the form of resistance changes that occur due to mechanical pressure so that the sensor can transmit signals in the form of analog signals which will be translated into digital signals through the ADC contained in the PLC used. In addition to the Load Cell sensor itself there is an infrared sensor that functions to count the number of items based on the weight category, then there is a conveyor that serves to transport items and double- acting cylinders which function to separate items by weight category. With this tool the work of moving and sorting items by category of the weight of the item can be lighter, fast and efficient when the items enter the item will be weighed and then the item is pushed to the conveyor, after walking to the conveyor, one of the 3 cylinders will push the item to another place according to the weight category, with this system the estimated efficiency reaches 75% compared to the sorting work done manually by humans.
