5.2 Automatic Controlling Communication Mode :

5.2.1 Term Definitions of Automatic Controlling Communication :
Detect : It means that the compositing sequence of the selected operating channel quality
has been realized. After the Fixed-Frequency link has been established, the used operating channel is
the selected channel of the excellent communication quality. After the Frequency-Hopping link has
been established, the channels of the bad communication quality shall be deleted from the frequency
tables of both the RX Party Transceiver and TX Party Transceiver.
Single Call : It means that the single call operation uses the address of the single
transceiver to perform the call and establish the link with one transceiver.
Network Call : It is means that the network call operation uses the network addresses to
perform the network calls and establish the links with all the transceivers that have been registered

22
and edited into this network. When the network call operations are performed, the calling transceiver
will try to communicate the member transceivers that have been registered and edited into this
network. If some of the transceivers do not reply the calling transceiver, the calling transceiver can
also establish the links with other transceivers. When all the member transceivers that have been
registered and edited into this network set the network call member transceivers, the members, the
member numbers and the member orders must be the same.
Group Call : It means that the host calling transceiver can establish several temporary
networks according to the requirements. The host calling transceiver can establish the links with all
the transceivers that have been registered and edited in this network group. When the group call is
set, the host calling transceiver should have the addresses of the called transceivers.
Whole Call : It means that when the whole call operation is performed, the host calling
transceiver can establish the links with all the transceivers that have the same channels. This is the
single broadcasting call.
Automatic Control Communication : It means that the automatic control communication
has the function of selecting the excellent anti-jamming modes and establishing the reliable and
quick automatic link establishment (ALE) according to the operation types and the conditions of the
channel interferences. The called party transceivers can automatically track the operation types of
the calling party transceiver. The automatic control communication can detect preset frequency
collection and select the excellent frequency collection according to the detected results. In the
scanning state, the automatic control communication has the lowest limit grade of the
communication function. The calling frequency is separated from the operating frequency. After the
link has been established, the operation can be converted from the Frequency-Hopping
communication into the frequency- fixed communication. When the ARQ data stream is transmitted,
the automatic control communication has the function of establishing the self-adaptive frequencies
and the function of automatically dodging the interfering signals.
Calling Channels : It means that the automatic control communication calls the channels
that will be called to establish the links. They are the channel sub-collections 000 ~ 255. The
channels to be scanning are determined by the parameter Calling Channel and Scanning Channel
Numbers. After the Calling Channels have established the links, they convert to the operation channels
to perform the communications. If the link is the Fixed-Frequency link, the communication operation
is performed in this channel. If the link is the Frequency-Hopping link, the communication operation is
switched onto the operating channels of the Frequency-Hopping communication (the Frequency-
Hopping frequency table).
Operation Channel : It means that after the link of the automatic control communication
has been established, the Fixed-Frequency communication can be performed,. The operation
channels are the channel sub-collections 000~ 255.
Group Operating Parameter : It means that the main preset contents include the calling

23
channels, the operation channels, the low velocity CW channels, the Frequency-Hopping frequency
tables, the secret key groups, the dynamic scanning set and the relative parameters. The group is
names as the operating parameter group(or the parameter group). During the practical use, the
system uses the different operating parameters to meet the requirements of configuring the battles in
the different areas. They must not only ensure that the various communicating parameters of each of
the communication systems are not jammed or interfered one another in the different communication
but also ensure that the equipment or systems realize the inter-communications in the
communication networks. The automatic control communication function can provide 10 sets of the
numbers 0~ 9of the operating parameters of the different groups.
If the system stays in the operating mode of the automatic control communication while the
system was powered off last time, after the system has been powered on, the system stays still in the
scanning state of the automatic control communication. If the system stays in the other
communication operation mode, the button MODE should be pressed to jump out the Menu Com-
mode Set. The buttons ↑ ,↓ are used to select Automation , the button ENTR is pressed to
confirm the selection. A moment later, the system is converted into the scanning state of the
automatic control communication as shown in Figure5.11.

in order to inform them to go to the operation channels. Then the system shakes the hands with all
the members in the operation channels. If the system is successfully shaking the hand with one of
the called transceivers, the system has established the link with this called transceiver. If the system
is not shaking the hand with any one of the called transceivers, the system will continue to call the
called transceiver in the next scanning channels. After the system has called all the scanning
channels and the link has not been established, it will return to the scanning state so that Call is
changed into Scan.
Whole Call : The system wholly broadcast and calls all the members in the scanning
channels in order to inform them to go to the operation channels. Then the system will establish the
links with all the members in the operation channels.

5.2.3 Operations and Display of all the Buttons in the Link Establishing State of the Automatic
Control Communication :
If it is the Fixed-Frequency link establishment, there is a prompt sound of the link
establishment as displayed in Figure 5.26. 004 means that the channels where the link establishment
operation is performed. The operation of the called transceiver automatically tracks the operation of
the calling transceiver. When the Other Addresses of the calling transceiver display the channels 100
~ 299, they mean the single calls(300 ~ 319 are the network calls; 600~ 609 are the group
calls ; 900is the whole call). The Other Addresses of the called transceiver only display the
address of the calling transceiver. The SINAD (=Signal to Noise and Distortion Ratio), the
frequency offset, the time delay and others such as +23dB, +4Hz, 00ms of the link establishment are
alternately displayed in the bottom line on the screen ,

Figure 5.26

Here, the radio is waiting for the commands from remote controller.
The operation of remote controller’s fixed frequency and auto control communication is same
with that of that of radio.
6 Using Noticing Items :

 Before the system is used, all devices in the system should be connected correctly. The
conduct post of the transceiver and the positive pose” +” and the negative post” -”
should be inosculated with the corresponding positions of the battery group. The voltage
should be checked carefully(21V ~ 29V).
 Before the system is used, all the frequencies to be used must be tuned. After the
environment where the system is used has been changed, all the frequencies to be used
should be tuned again.
 Before the system is used, the date, the time and the parameters should be corrected.
 During the operation, if the operation is failed, the transceiver should be restarted again.

7 Common Malfunctions of the device and Maintenance:

7.1 Power Supply Inspection and Accessories Inspection:
When the failures have been found in the system, it should first determine where the failures
happen. It should be checked if the connections and the operations of the system are correct. After
the above item inspections have been finished, the power supply voltage of the system should be
inspected. After the system has been powered on, the button “Self-BITE” is pressed so that the
power supply voltage of the systems displayed on the screen. When the displaying value of the
power supply voltage of the systems less than 22V , it means that the voltage of the battery is
not enough, the battery should be recharged or replaced with the new battery. When the system is set
to the Fixed-Frequency position and a frequency is selected as well as the volume potentiometer is
turned to the Maximum position, some noises can be heard in the earphone set. When the button
PTT is pressed, the switching sounds of the relays in the system should be heard. If these
requirements cannot be met, the earphone set may have some failures. Now it should be checked if
the sockets are well connected. Or another set of the earphone set should be replaced to remove the
failures so that it means that the earphone set has the failures.
After the above inspections have been finished and the transceiver still has the problems, the

40
rear cover of the transceiver should be opened to check if the contacts of the plugs and the sockets of
each of the parts connected well and all the cables are connected well as well as if they have the
flexible phenomena. All the plugs and socket of the cables should be pressed tightly again then the
transceiver can be tried to be used.
7.2 Inspections and Replacement of the Parts in Each of the Units :
a) When the system performs the “Self-BITE” operation and displays “Channel TX
Failures” , the unit “DSP”, the unit “Front Panel” or the unit “Channel” may have the failures.
They should try to be inspected by replacing the units one by one.
b) When the system performs the “Self-BITE” operation and displays “Frequency Synthesizer
Failures” , the unit “Frequency Synthesizer” may have the failures. It should try to be inspected
by replacing this unit.
c) If the Frequency-Hopping operation, the self-adaptive automatic link establishing operation
and the data operation are not normal, the unit “DSP” , the unit “Frequency Synthesizer” and the
main control unit may have the failures.
d) If the displaying operation of the system is not normal and all the functional buttons are not
operated effectively, the main control unit and the displaying unit may have the failures.
7.3 Judgment and Repair of the Familiar Failure of the System :
The judgment and repair of the familiar failure of the system can be seen in Table

7.4 Simple Failures Are Searched and Repaired Urgently :
When the system has the failures but it is required to be used urgently in the simple and crude
conditions and without special repairing instruments and tools, the prompt decision must be made
that the system should be repaired urgently according to the skilled experiences without considering
if the standard of the product is accorded with so as to make the needs of the system. The practice
can prove that the power from 10W to 20W, the inter-modulation from 15dB to 30 dB of the
transmitter, the sensitivity from 1μV to 10μV and the distortion from 5% to 15% of the receiver shall
almost not affect the communication of the system obviously and some technical specifications shall
not affect the communication very little. So, in the urgent situation , the system has adopted the
connecting and inserting structures of the units so that the system has the interchangeable
characteristic and the unit boards or the unit boxes of the backup systems or transceivers can be
removed and inserted in the system which has the failures. And the units, the units and the parts and
systems that have the failures of several sets of the systems can be collected onto one set of the
backup system or transceiver. In the conditions of the allowed time and the complete system as well
as the more backup transceivers, the normalized maintenance and repair are performed or they are
sent to the relay grade station to be repaired.
7.4.1 Listening Method :
After the antenna has been connected with the main set of the normal product, some big
noises can be heard in the earphone set. If there is no noise, generally the audio unit and the DSP
unit have the failures. Although the noise is very small but there is some , generally the channel
unit and the frequency synthesizer unit have the failures. If the noise is basically normal but the
signal cannot be received, generally the channel unit and the band-dividing filter unit as well as the
antenna unit have the failures.
7.4.2 Seeing Method:
The place CW is observed if the level has the indication, the indication is small and big, the
total current output of the regulated power supply is small and big while the system is tuned. If the
receiving is basically normal, the total current output is very small while transmitting the signal, the
indication of the level is very small or no indication. When the pencil or screwdriver is used to touch
the antenna, there is no spark on the antenna(at the low frequency end) , the power amplifier unit,
the band-dividing filter unit or the antenna tuner unit have the failures.
7.4.3 Interference Inputting Method :
The human body is a very good interference source so that it can be used as the interference
source. When the metal screwdriver or the sharp forceps can be used to touch the relevant parts of
the system, the sound “Kala” in the earphone set can be heard to judge the failure places.

43
When the earphone set is connected, the power supply switch is turned on, the lower cover is
removed and the volume potentiometer is turned to the max position, the intermediate smooth
interference noise can be heard in the normal system at this time. When the metal screwdriver or the
acutilingual forceps can be used to touch the antenna seat, the output terminal of the filter unit, the
output terminal of the channel unit and the output terminal of the DSP unit in turn, some interference
sounds “Kala” can be heard in the earphone set. According to having or not having the interference
sounds “Kala”, it can be judged if the antenna tuner unit, the band-dividing filter unit, the channel
unit or the DSP unit has the failures.
7.5 Storage and Maintenance in Storehouse :
The storage and maintenance in the storehouse is also the important task of the life quality
management of the system. The storehouse where the system is stored should have the good
environment. The storing and repair in personnel should be familiar with the technical specifications
of the system and the inspecting methods. The storing and repair in personnel should understand the
changing conditions of the quantity and the quality of the systems during the storing periods. The
storage and maintenance of the storing period in the storehouse shall be divided into 4 kinds : the
check and accept of storing the system into the storehouse ; the storage and maintenance for a
long time ; the temporary storage and maintenance ; the inspection and maintenance before
the battle starts ;
7.5.1 Check and Accept of Storing the System into the Storehouse :
The system quality of leaving the factory and the quality of the systems after the
transportation should be the important tasks of delivering and accepting the system between the
manufacturing factory and the storehouse managing personnel. The storehouse managing personnel
shall accept the system and store them into the store house according to the contract of ordering and
storing the systems or the order from the high authority. The general check and accept working
procedure is described as the followings :
a) The quality inspection of the packing appearance :
The quantity of the systems is counted according to the quantity and the name of the
<<Good List of Delivering and Accepting the Goods>> ;
The Trade Mark quality of storing and transporting of the Goods on the packing cases should
be inspected;
The quality of the packing wooden cases of the system should be checked. The packing
wooden cases of the system are divided into two parts : the outside transporting wooden cases
and the inner packing cases that are accorded with the packing standards of the military
equipments ;
The lead realization of the wooden packing cases should be inspected if they are good and the
wooden cases are stable and firm.
b) Complete Set Inspection While Opening the Packing Case :

44
The case-opening inspection shall be performed according to the check and accept quantity of
the systems to be stored in the storehouse and the regulations of the storehouse.(5% of the total
quantity of the systems are selected and are inspected generally while opening the packing cases).
The items and contents listed in the packing lists should be checked with the practical goods. The
names, quantities, specifications of the main transceivers, the accessories, the backup parts and the
technical documents in the packing cases should be accorded with the packing lists. The main
transceivers, the accessories and the backup parts of each set of the systems are packed in their own
packing boxes (bags). The complete transceiver systems are packed in the wooden cases firmly and
accorded with the shockproof requirements. The surface qualities of the main transceiver and the
backup parts should have no obvious scars and moldy rusted and cankerous phenomenon as well as
no shorted parts.
c) Configuration Inspection :
When the system is normally operated, the usability, the interchangeable ability, of the main
transceiver, the attached accessories and the peripheral equipments that are matched and connected
with the main transceiver should be inspected. The antennas, the earphone set, the handset, the
transferring cables and the battery group and other attached accessories should be separately
connected according to the technical operation manuals
(When it is necessary, the crypto and the telephone set can be remotely connected.). The connecting
and inserting conditions of the antennas and other accessories should be inspected if they are well
matched , if the contacts are reliable and firm, if the fibulas are locked firmly, if the same types
of the accessories can be interchanged, if the potentiometer on the front panel of the main
transceiver can be smoothly circumrotated, if the hopping steps of all the switches are clear, if the
contacts are reliably touched and if there are the deadlocked phenomena as well as if the displaying
window and fastening parts are good. After the supporting connections of the complete transceiver
have been inspected, the system should be powered on and its operating abilities can be inspected as
well as the short distance communication can be performed.
d) Measurement of Electric Performances and Specifications:
The electric performances and item specifications, the measuring methods and the instrument
Applications can be performed according to the 《 Product Regulations of XD-D12B 24V 》 .
When the storehouse has no complete conditions, the main technical specifications can be measured.
Or all the functions of the inspected system can be inspected during the short distance
communication experiment.
e) Qualified Goods are sent into Storehouse after the Check and Accept are Completed :
After this batch of the systems is checked according to the quality standards of sending the
systems into the storehouse, the managing personnel of the storehouse should accept and sent the
goods into the storehouse. The opened and checked systems should be counted and cleaned
according to the items, the specification, the quantity listed in the packing lists and are repacked into

45
the wooden cases according to the packing requirements. Finally the packed wooden cases are lead-
sealed and sent into the storehouse.
f) Treatment of the Unqualified Systems :
When the systems are found to have the bid quality problems during the storehouse check and
accept and are refused to accept the systems, the storehouse managing personnel should quickly
inform the manufacturing factory to send the responsible representatives to the storehouse in order
to perform the quality cognizance. After the factory have repaired the systems and solved the big
quality problems and the managing personnel of the storehouse should check the systems once
again. The qualified systems can be stored into the storehouse. When a few of the systems are found
to have the quality problems, the managing personnel in the storehouse can repair them. The
managing personnel in the storehouse can inform the factory to send the technicians to come to
storehouse to repair the systems in the storehouse and send the systems that cannot be repaired in the
storehouse back to the factory. The factory will subjoin the shorted parts of the systems. The
storehouse will assist the factory to negotiate with the transporting department to solve the quality
problems caused during the transportation of the equipments.
7.5.2 Storage and Maintenance for a Long Time:
The managing personnel in the storehouse are responsible for storing and maintaining the
systems for a long time as well as performing the good quality tracking and maintaining work in
order to ensure the quality of the systems during the storing period so that the following items of the
work should be done:
a) Storing Work of the Systems:
The storehouse where the systems are stored should have the good environment conditions
such as the aeration, fireproofing, damp-proof, antisepsis, waterproofing measures. The packing
wooden cases should be placed on the pillow woods that are 30cm higher than the ground surface.
The packing wooden cases should be 1m far away from the walls so as to keep the ventilation in the
storehouse.
b) Quality Tracking and Maintaining Work in Storing Period:
The certain quantity of the systems that are stored for a long time can be taken out according
to the fixed date of the year so as to open the packing cases to inspect the systems. It is better to take
out the sampling quantity by prorating the systems into the batches of the year.
c) Quality Statistics and Feedback of the Systems in the Storing Period :
The managing personnel in the storehouse should perform the work of collecting the quality
data and the statistic work of the systems stored in the storehouse from the time when the systems
are sent into the storehouse to the time when they are delivered to the users from the storehouse so
that the quality files of the systems can be established for the higher authority departments and the
factory to evaluate and query the quality of the systems.
7.5.3 Temporary Management and Maintenance:

46
Because the systems are temporarily stored in the storehouse for a short time and will be sent
to the users very soon, the qualities of the systems will not be changed greatly in the normal
condition. If the systems are not be well stored in the bad environment conditions of the storehouse,
the quality problems will happen so that the special attention of the work of the temporary storing
systems should be paid. The storing requirements of the temporary storing systems are the same as
the long storing conditions. The quantity of the taken out systems to be inspected should be
determined according to the task property and the orders of the higher authority. Generally speaking,
when the systems are delivered to the stress army to shoulder the stress tasks, they should be wholly
inspected and maintained. When the systems are delivered to the common duty and training army
forces, the sampling inspection of the systems should be performed. The functional specifications,
the accessories, the backup parts of the systems should be strictly inspected so that the army forces
can use the systems of the best quality and the complete configuration. When the systems are
delivered to the army forces, the managing personnel in the storehouse shall make the recording
notes. The simple failures of the systems should be well repaired before delivering the systems to the
users. If the managing personnel in the storehouse cannot repair the systems or find that the
accessories and spare parts are shorted or have the problems, they should inform the factory to send
the technicians to repair the systems or subjoin the shorted and damaged parts or components. The
systems to be delivered to the users must be packed firmly and reliably so that the systems can make
the requirements for the long distance transportation.
7.5.4 Inspection and Maintenance before the Battle Starts :
The inspection and maintenance before the battle start is a urgent and important maintaining
task. When the storehouse accepts the order from the higher authority department, if the systems are
found to have the quality problems, the stored systems shall be inspected, repaired and sent to the
army forces quickly. 100% functional performances, the technical specifications, the complete
configuration, the matching property, the interchangeability of the systems should be urgently
inspected. The capability of the matched battery groups should be recharged and resumed so that
each set of the systems can have a good operating state and the reliable safe quality of the systems.
The maintaining descriptions should be noticed in the record manuals.
If the accessories and spare parts of the systems are shorted and the problems cannot be solved
immediately, it can be done that the accessories and spare parts can be collected from many sets of
the systems and combined into a set of the system to be used.
After the army forces have accepted the systems, the operators should open the system cases
to check the integrality of the main sets, the accessories and the spare parts of the systems. When the
voltages of the battery groups are not full enough, they should be charged immediately. The
antennas and the earphone sets should be connected with the main sets according to the operation
manuals so as to check and inspect if all the functions of the systems can be operated normally in the
short distance communication. If the quality problems have been found, they should be solved

47
immediately.

8 Requirement and Method of Packing, Transporting and Storing the

Product for a Short Time :
8.1 Packing and Transporting
a) The operations should be done strictly according to the storing and transporting marks on
the packing cases ;
b) In the loading and unloading operation, the special attention should be paid that the heavy
cases and big cases are placed at the lower layer. The center of the gravity cannot exceed 2m. The
stack of the cases should be piled up orderly and reliably. The loading weight cannot exceed the
rated weight of the truck ;
c) The cases are loaded onto the trucks according to the relevant regulations of the height and
the width. The packing parts shall be placed averagely. It is not allowed that the cases are leaned to
one side.
d) When the trucks are used to transport the good cases, the running speed shall be controlled
according to the road conditions so that the equipments cannot be damaged.
e) It is not allowed that the flammable, fiery and cankerous objects are loaded and transported
on the same trucks.
f) When the equipments are transported on the trucks, the waterproof, the dustproof, the solar
