Introduction

For this assignment I have to compare 2 public cloud CMS products of my own choice. For each of the software
packages I had to compare;

· its functionality

I also had to look for the appropriate training model for each of them and document them in this report. Also
find an evaluation report about these tools and incorporate an abstract of it in my report.

CMS product 1: Weebly

Functionality
Weebly is a drag and drop website builder. You simply select a feature or element you want on your page (e.g.
images, text boxes), drag it to where you want it, and drop it!

To create a website, you just have to select and customize a template of your choice. Once you’ve done this,
click publish and it’ll be online for people to find.

Some of Weebly’s most popular features include its ecommerce functions, which allow you to accept payments
and track an inventory through your site. Weebly also lets you have some awesome design options, like having
a video for a background and creating custom headers, plus the option to edit your site from any device with
Weebly’s mobile apps (websitebuilderexpert).

CMS product 2: WordPress

Functionality
WordPress works by being installed on a web server. You can set up a web server yourself or through a web
hosting provider. Most opt for the latter. A web server is your plot of internet land, the place where your
website’s files and data can be accessed by anyone, anywhere, at any time.

WordPress structures that data in a way that’s easy to manage. It’s a mediator between you and the tangled,
code-heavy world of web development. It provides templates for appearances, and a structured backend
framework for managing content.

You’d do well to use WordPress without having to use any code, but you’d be surprised (quite possibly elated)
by how much it removes from the equation. You don’t get tens of millions of users by being difficult to use
(websitebuilderexpert).

Evaluation tool

1) Ease of use

When it comes to ease of use, Weebly will be a bit simpler for most users because getting started is as
simple as creating a Weebly account. Weebly is a drag-and-drop website builder, so you don’t need
any HTML skills to get started. With WordPress.org, though, you’ll need to go through some setup
before you can start building. First, you’ll need to purchase website hosting and a domain name and
install WordPress. Yeah, that sounds a little daunting, but most WordPress hosts make it super easy
because WordPress is so popular. In fact, most quality hosts will let you install WordPress with just a
few clicks (themeisle).

2) Pricing

Weebly’s pricing plans range from $8 to $25 per month (paid annually). These include:
o Connect plan ($5/month)
o Pro plan ($12/month)
o Business plan ($25/month)
o With all three plans, you get a free domain.

For WordPress the exact cost depends on the provider you use, but you can find quality cheap
WordPress hosting for as little as ~$4 per month. And you can even find fairly reliable free WordPress
hosting if you’re on a shoestring budget. On top of that, you’ll have to purchase your own domain
name. Again, the exact cost ranges, but setting aside ~$10-15 per year should do it (themeisle).

3) Customer support

First, Weebly has a help center with various help guides. They also provide 24/7 email support, and
live chat or phone support during working hours. WordPress does have a community forum where
people can post questions, these posts are moderated by volunteers, not support staff.
These volunteers do what they can to help new users out, but there’s no guarantee that you’ll get an
answer or solution (themeisle).

4) Customization options

The main difference between Weebly vs WordPress is that WordPress is an open-source piece of
software, while Weebly isn’t (themeisle).
5) Search engine optimization
Search engine optimization When it comes to on-page SEO, there’s really no difference whether you’re
using WordPress or Weebly (themeisle).

Conclusion

Weebly and WordPress are both very effective CMS sites. It is clear that Weebly is a good tool for people that
own a small company or want to start a blog. It is very easy to use, and you can be very creative. WordPress is
more advanced than Weebly. There are a lot of websites, courses and tutorials that teach you how to work
with WordPress. Once you are able to work with WordPress, you will be able to do a lot more with it than
Weebly.
