GENERAL RULES

1. The participant must have a valid College Identity Card which may be requested by
organisers at any point of time
2. Participants should bring No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their institute
which should contain the names of all the participants and if along with them, any
faculty member/ student coordinator accompanies the participants, their name and
contact details should be there on the NOC.
3. Possession and consumption of Alcohol/drugs is strictly prohibited
4. Possession of any illegal substance/object will be dealt with seriousness and will
be reported to appropriate authorities
5. Any anti-social or/and indecent behaviour will not be tolerated. Team Ojas, Jaipuria
Institute of Management, Lucknow has full rights to ask anyone to leave the campus
immediately and stop their further participation in Ojas 2019
6. Any dangerous objects, inflammables, lasers and illegal materials will not be allowed
7. Any damage to the college infrastructure or to the facilities provided to the participant
will be treated as a serious offense and dealt with monetary fine.
8. Participants need to abide by Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow’s rules
during their stay
9. There shall be no refunds for any event under any circumstances
10. All participants are encouraged to maintain discipline and good conduct during their
stay at Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow
11. Event rules and rounds are subjected to change as per discretion of the judges
12. In case of any disputes, the decision taken by Ojas team would be final and binding

ACADEMIC EVENTS

1. ARGUMENTATIVE INDIAN

Brief about the Activity


In this event, a single topic will be allotted to 2 teams, who in turn will have to
prepare their respective arguments based on the research done. The teams will
be required to prepare either supportive argument or a contrary argument which
will be allotted to the teams by the host college. The aim is to convince the
other team and make them agree to your points.

Number of Participants (Team Event)


• Maximum 2 teams can participate from one college.
• Each team will comprise of 3 members.

General Rules of Activity


• Each team will be allotted 40 minutes for researching on the topic wherein
they can use mobile phones or any electronic gadgets but after this time period
ends, its use will be strictly prohibited and will lead to immediate
disqualification
• Each team gets 3 minutes to present their argument. Thereafter, they will
involve in a 4 minute session of combined argument with the opposition team
• Both the teams will have to submit on an A-4 sheet, the URL’s from where
they have gathered certain facts about the topic, and submit it to the judge after
their argument ends
• Pairing with the opposition team will be done by the host college
• The teams will not be allowed to read from the sheets
• Decency of language should be kept in mind during the arguments, use of
improper language and gestures, may lead to disqualification of the team

2. .DEBATE (ENGLISH)

Brief About the Activity


Debate is a formal discussion on a particular matter, in which opposing
arguments are put forward on the basis of relevant facts and figures.

Number of Participants (Team Event)


• Maximum two teams can participate from one college
• Each team will comprise of two members

General Rules of the Activity


• One member of the team will speak for the motion and other presents the
viewpoints against the motion
• Each team will get four minutes to present their views and two minutes for
refutation
• Negative marking would be done in case any team exceeds the given time
limit
• Use of any paper or guided reference will lead to disqualification
• Use of mobile phones or any electronic gadget is strictly prohibited and will
lead to immediate disqualification

3. THRUST TALK (ENGLISH)

Brief about the Activity


Extempore is a speech that is given on the spot without prior preparation. It is a
test of one’s knowledge about a topic as well as their ability to express
themselves in a framed manner within a limited time.

Number of Participants (Individual Event)


• It is an individual event.
• Maximum 5 participants allowed from one college.

General Rules of Activity


• The participants will select their topics from the chit bowl. Topic can be a
word/ small phrase/ saying/ quote.
• No thinking time will be allotted to the participants
• The participant will be allotted 10 seconds for self-introduction and 1 minute
for speaking on the topic
• There will be negative marking if the participant :

➢ Exceeds the speaking time limit of 1 minute

➢ Uses unnecessary pauses

➢ Makes grammatical errors

➢ Repeats the same points over and over again

➢ Uses out of context points.

lead to immediate disqualification

4. JAM (Just a Minute)

Brief about the Activity


‘Just a Minute’ (JAM) is basically a one minute or less extempore speech that is
carried out without any preparation or impromptu performances wherein the
competing participants can ‘JAM’ you for any error that you make.

Number of Participants (Individual Event)


• It is an individual event
• Maximum 5 participants allowed from one college

General Rules of Activity


• The participants will be clubbed in a panel of 5 members by the host college
and they will compete with the fellow panel members
• The candidates will have to choose the topic from a chit-bowl
• Once the candidate has read the topic, they will not be given any thinking time
and would have to start speaking on the topic immediately
• Once a participant starts speaking, the opponents panel members can ‘JAM’
the candidate by raise of hand for any of the following:

● use of improper grammar


● stuttering and stammering
● repetition of previously used sentences or words
● unnecessary pauses
● time wasting tactics
● Use of filter words like ‘ah’, ‘uh’
● Use of mobile phones or any electronic gadget is strictly prohibited and
will lead to immediate disqualification

5. THE GREAT INDIAN QUIZ

Brief about the Activity


India is famous for its diversified culture and its great literature as well. The
Indian history, mythology, Indian literature, Indian geography and Indian
discoveries will be the major contents in this quiz. Let’s see how well you know
about your country.
Number of Participants (Team Event)
• Each team comprising of 2 members.
• No restrictions on number of teams participating from one college.
General Rules of Activity
• There will be 2 rounds, one elimination round and 1 final round.
• First elimination round will comprise of 40 multiple choice based questions
• Time limit allotted for first round shall be 30 minutes
• The top 5 teams will be moving to the Final round
• Final round will comprise of 15 questions based on the theme
• Negative Marking will be considered in the Final round.
• Use of mobile phones or any electronic gadget is strictly prohibited and will
lead to immediate disqualification

6. MARKETING MANIA

Brief about the Activity


Marketing Maniac is a marketing case study competition. The market is full of
problems like uncertainty, dynamic environment, cut throat competition, rapidly
changing technology, etc. A successful business is one that tackles all the
problems and provides value to their customers. The teams will have to solve a
real-time case study of a company facing any issue related to marketing and
provide the best possible solution on an A4 sheet of paper using their insights
and knowledge related to concepts of marketing.

Number of Participants (Team Event)


• Maximum 2 teams can participate from one college.
• Each team will comprise of minimum 3 members and maximum of 5
members.

General Rules of Activity


• The teams will have to present their ideas and solutions on an A4 sheet
provided by the host college.
• Time duration allotted would be divided in two parts: 10 minutes for reading
the case and 30 minutes for presenting the ideas and solutions on the sheet of
paper provided.
• The answers for every question will have a word limit of 250 words.
Exceeding the word limit will lead to negative marking.
• Use of mobile phones or any electronic gadgets is strictly prohibited and will
lead to immediate disqualification.

7. Metamorphosis

Brief about the Activity


In this event, the participants will be given an outdated product which they will
have to innovate in a manner that the innovation brings out a significant change
and adds utility to it.

Number of Participants (Team Event)


• Maximum 2 teams can participate from one college.
• Each team comprising of a minimum 3 members and maximum 5 members.

General Rules of Activity


• Each team will be allotted a product on the spot.
• Teams will get a time of 8 minutes to prepare which will be followed by a
presentation of 5 minutes per team.
• The participants will have to highlight the issue they have addressed and the
benefits that would be obtained from their innovation to the product.
• Use of mobile phones or any electronic gadget is strictly prohibited and will
lead to immediate disqualification.

8. GRAFFITI

Brief about the Activity


Graffiti is a visual communication tool that serves as a summary of your
thoughts and takes on the given topic. Speak out your mind and give visual aid
to your ideas and thoughts. Showcase your talent by painting your imagination
and creativity onto the canvas.

Abstract

Number of Participants (Team Event)


• Maximum 1 team can participate from one college.
• Each team comprising of a minimum 2 and maximum 4 members.

General Rules of Activity


• Topic for the event will be given on the spot
• Only canvas/wall would be provided to each team
• Participants are requested to carry their own materials/ colours required for the
activity.
• Use of mobile phones or any electronic gadget is strictly prohibited and will
lead to immediate disqualification.

“THE TV SHOW QUIZ”

“We might not be great thinkers, world leaders, we don’t read a lot but
damn it we watch and we know things.”

Brief About the Activity:

We like big brains and we cannot lie - we know YOUR big brain is full of
knowledge about your favourite TV shows, so let’s test your knowledge. This
activity is about how much you are aware with your favourite TV series

From “Tarak Mehta ka UltaChasma” to “Scared games”, from “Friends” to


“Big bang theory” and From “Game of thrones” to “Sherlock Holmes”!!!

So let’s check how much crazy fan you are of these series with this quiz.

Number of Participants (Team Event)

• Each team compromising of two members.


• No restriction on number of teams participating from one college.

General Rules of the event:

• There will be two rounds; first round will be elimination round and
second round would be the final round.

• The first round will consist of MCQs questions to be done within a


limited time span of 15 Minutes.
• The top 8 scorers will be moving to the final round

• The final round would be the buzzer round, the maximum number of
answers given within one minutes.
• There will be negative marking in the final round.
• Use of mobile phones will lead to immediate disqualification

CULTURAL EVENTS

1. LET THE MUSIC SPEAK(SINGING)

BRIEF:-
“To live is to be musical, starting with the blood dancing in your veins.
Everything living has a rhythm. Do you feel the music?” – MICHEAL
JACKSON
SOLO :
● Maximum of 3 students can participate from one college.
● Time limit- 3 minutes maximum
● Songs can be of any sort i.e.; Western or Indian
● No backing vocals are allowed
● The song could either be a single song or a medley
● The participant can use a karaoke or an instrument for his performance.
No participant should be accompanied by an instrumentalist.
● The results will be declared in 2 categories , i.e. Instrumental and
Karaoke
● Background music is mandatory
● The karaoke should be submitted 30 minutes prior to the performance
● The language in the songs should not be vulgar

GROUP :
● Maximum of 2 teams can participate from one college.
● Minimum number of participants-3
Maximum number of participants-6
● Number of participants includes the instrumentalists.
● Time limit – 5 minutes
● Songs can of any sort i.e. Western or Indian
● The participants are also allowed to use a karaoke for their performance.
● The karaoke should be submitted 30 minutes prior to the performance
● The language in the songs should not be vulgar.

2. NUKKAD NAATAK

Category-Group

Rules-
● Team Size: 8-20 (Including all music accompanists)
● Only 1 team per college
● Language: Hindi, English or both, short snippets in other regional
languages are allowed.
● Time allotted per act: 12-20 minutes (including setup and clearance time i.e.
empty stage to empty stage)
● Exceeding the time limit will result in disqualification.
● Inappropriate content, blasphemy or content defaming any political party
or religious group is STRICTLY prohibited and may lead to
disqualification.

● Use of mics is not allowed.


● Any kind of fluids, live animals, flame, heavy objects or any other
material which has a possibility of damaging the stage is STRICTLY
prohibited.
● Playing recorded music using mobile phones or tapes is not allowed.
● Decision of the judges would be final and final on the basis of: Story line,
dialogue delivery, voice pitch and acting.

3. BATTLE OF BANDS

Number of teams per college: - Maximum 1team from each college.

Rules–

● Team composition: -
1. Maximum – 10 members.
2. Minimum – 5 members.
● Maximum 5 entries will be entertained(first come first in bases)
● Abusive and offensive language is not allowed during performance.
● Minimum 3 instruments are allowed and should be arranged themselves
by the performing team.

● Negative marking if time exceeds and on the violation of any rule.


● 30 minutes of performance time is allotted inclusive of preparation and
stage setup.

4. FOOT LOOSE
CATEGORY: Group

Number of teams- Maximum 2 teams can participate from one


college.

Rules-
● One team should only consist of maximum 15 and minimum 4
participants.
● Choice of song is up to the participants.
● Dance can be of any style except any classical or regional dance.
● Time limit of the performance is 7 minutes maximum.
● Exceeding the time limit will lead to negative marking.
● The participants will be judged on the basis of rhythm, formation,
synchronization, costumes, choice of songs and overall effects.
● Music needs to be submitted an hour before the performances in a virus
free pen-drive.

5. STEP-UP DANCE FACE-OFF


CATEGORY :- (Solo)

Number of Participants: -3 participants from one college.

Rules:-
● The Face-off will be random for the participants.
● Choice of songs will be up to the respective judges.
● All the participants will be in a semi-circular position, as soon as the song
will start playing, one of the participant will begin the face-off (the judge
will place you without any biasness and participant will be given tag
number and will be mapped on that number), the participant will have to
dance for at least 1.5 minutes before leaving, and then the other
participant can begin and it will go on in the same manner.
● Time limit as mentioned above is TWO minute for each participant.
● Songs will be either English or Hindi.
● Participants will be given the song track just one hour before the event
to prepare the dance.
● Dance style can be any except classical and regional dance form.
● Participants are not supposed to carry any props.
● Time limit per person should not exceed two minutes.

6. KRITANJALI

CATEGORY:- Solo

RULES-

● Each Institute can send TWO solo entry.


● The classical dance can be from any of the approved schools of dance.
Such as Kathak, Kathakali, Bharat, Natyam, Manipuri, Kuchipudi,
Mohinittam, Odissi, etc.
● Participants are allowed up to 5 minutes including time for preparation.
Maximum three accompanists are permissible
● Judgment is based on the qualities like taal, technique, rhythm, abhinaya
or expression, costumes, footwork and overall impression

CATEGORY:- Group

RULES-
● Max 2 teams can participate from one college
● Number of Team Members: Min 2 and Max 7
● Time limit: Maximum 4 minutes
● Any kind of classical dance can be performed
● Submit the tracks 45 mins before performance to the crew
● Participants can use props if they want.
● Music needs to be submitted in a virus free pen-drive.
● Open for both boys and girls
● Songs choice will also matter and will be judged on the basis of taal,
synchronisation, footwork and overall presentation.

7. OPEN MIC

CATEGORY:- Solo

RULES:-

● Use of un-parliamentary language is strictly prohibited.


● No usage of written content is allowed.
● Usage of mobile phones is not allowed at the time of performance.
● Usage of controversial issues to boost personal scores in the event is a
straight negation.
● The decorum of the house should be maintained in all circumstances.
● The performance should not be more than 2mins.
● Open mic can include poetry, standup comedy, shaayri, mimicry,
instrumental, rap, beat boxing, mono acting. (except dance and
singing)
● Judgement will be on the basis on your appeal on stage, audience
attraction, content etc.
● The decision if the judges will be bind and final.

Themes:

RULES:

● One team per college


● Maximum number of participants:20 Min:12
● Time limit per round: 15 -20 min.
● Music needs to be submitted in a virus free pen drive 45 min. before the
performance
● The ensemble should be designed according to the given time.
● Modesty is an imperative criterion. Therefore designs should be good
and appropriate to the theme

ENTREPRENEURSHIP EVENTS

1. LOGO DESIGNING

Introduction
It is important to remember that your logo is the first interaction potential
customer has with your business. Logo design reflects your business and
provides favourable impression.
So, guys gear upand grab this opportunity to show your creativity, innovation
and imagination.
Situation will be given on the spot.
Rules-:
● It is an individual participation event.
● Topic will be given on the spot.
● There will be two rounds:
Round 1: Drawing the logo.
Round 2: Describing the logo.
● There will be a specific time allotted for drawing the logo and describing
it.
● Marks will be based on creativity, topic relatibility and logo description.
● You have to carry an A4 sheet of paper and your own art supply(pen,
pencil, colours, etc).
● No use of electronics in the competition.

2. ROLE IT OUT

Introduction
Role play is a simulation for real life business situation. The emphasis is on
dramatization of the situation by the participants. Moreover the discussion
should be in a subtle way to lead to a conclusion or decision. The key to a great
role play is the use of perfect body language along with
naturalconversationbased content. It is the best training method used in all
functional areas of management.
So, guys be ready to show and grow your entrepreneur skills and business
sense.
Rules-:
● This is a team event and each team will comprise of 4 members.
● You will be given roles on the spot.
● You will be judged on the basis of Presence of mind, Verbal Abilities,
Body language and Teamwork.
● Two teams will compete against each other and the winning team will
move to the next round.
● No unfair means will be entertained.

3. MIX AND MATCH/INNOVATE

Introduction
What two products could be brought together for the first time to create a new
one? Don’t be afraid to get unconventional. Walk down the aisle of your favourite
retail store and ideas abound. For example- the decision to combine flashlight
with a screwdriver was ingenious. It’s now possible to work in the dark areas
without having to hold flashlight.
This is the time to showcase your creativity and marketing skills.
1. Two products will be given to each team with which they will have to
create a new useful product.
2. Teams will be preparing 2 slides power point presentation and present in
front of the judging panel.
3. Following parameters will be kept in mind while judging the presentation-
● Name and tagline of the product.
● Information about the target audience for the product.
● Marketing Strategies.
● On the second slide there should be an advertisement for the product.
● Presentation skills.

RULES
1. Each team will consist of two participants.
2. List of items would be given 1 hour prior to the start of the event
3. Computer system will be allotted by the college itself.
4. Half an hour will be given for discussion and preparing the power point
presentation.
5. 4 minutes will be allotted for presenting the idea followed by a 2 minutes
Q&A round by the panels.

4. MOCKTAIL MAKING

RULES

● Group participation only


● Maximum: 2 members
● Basic ingredients (Tetra juice packs, lemon slices, soda bottles, salt etc.)
● Glassware would not be provided by the college to the participants
(Participants are allowed to bring in specific glassware of their choice for
mocktail, if required any).
● Participants would be allowed to use only 1 of the juice packs.
● Participants would be judged on the basis of composition, taste and
garnish & participation.

PRELIMINARY ROUND: PRICE BIDDING (Eliminator round)


• Participants will try to bid the actual price of the given products.
• The ones who will bid the closest price will be given points:
• Price gap from the quoted price will decide the points to be awarded.
• An exact price match will lead to full marks award.
• Top 20 teams will qualify for the 1st main round.

ROUND 1: BRAND JAM (Maximum Point rewarded out of 10)


• It will be an audio/ visual round where teams will select a particular number
through tabs on the screen.
• Numerical tabs will be attached with a brand name; the participants will
have to speak for a minute on the given brand.
• Exhaustiveness of the content will help teams to gain points and qualify for
next round.
• Top 10 teams will be promoted to the next round.

ROUND 2: GO OUT OF THE BOX(Non evaluation round to be


completed for the next round)
• In this round you have to show your divergent thinking to advertise an
object.
• You will be given any random object in the beginning of this round.
• With the help of your mobile phones or camera you will be required to
click creative pictures or make videos only inside the campus.
• Make sure that you include any person place or things from the college
campus.
• You cannot use any of your team member's belongings.
• With the help of those pictures or videos you've to make a creative add in
order to advertise the given object to you.
• 3 hours will be given to you to complete this activity.

ROUND 3: THE FINALE(Maximum Point rewarded out of 20)


• There will be a panel of 3 jury members in this round.
• Teams will be required to submit a note with their respective price they
feel should be the price of their product.
• Each team will get 4 minutes (Time inclusive of 2 minutes of Video or
Picture Presentation).
• Teams will have to promote their brands and convince the jury members
through their marketing and promoting skills&convince the jury member
to quote a price they would be ready to pay.
• Team with highest points& closest price points will be the winner of the
game.
• Price gap from the quoted price:

From Rs. 1,000 & above : Negative 3 awarded


From Rs. 500 to Rs. 999 : Zero Points
From Rs. 200 to Rs. 499 : 1½ Points Added

2. HOT MESS THE COOK-OFF (IRC)

Calling all the Food lovers to awaken their inner Gordon Ramsay and show
their culinary skills in an exclusive no-bake, no-fire, no-fuss cooking
competition. The contestants are only allowed to create an international food
masterpiece it could be a fusion dish or anything based on your weird
imagination. So we challenge all Savoury kings and Sweet Queens to battle it
out and win the title for the best Chef! There’s no monetary prize but al lot of
internal glory!

Number of Participants: A team should comprise two people from one college

General Rules:
● Dish cooked should be edible.
● Contestants should bring all the necessary ingredients and materials
required for the dish.
● No-fuss: Hygiene and cleanliness should be maintained throughout the
competition.
● Use of internet/cookbook is prohibited.
● Time allotted is 15 minutes
● Participant will be judged based on taste, presentation, innovation and
creativity.

3. REBUS PUZZLES
A word picture puzzle or pictograms are shown that include a hidden word or a
common phrase. Your task is to decipher the rebus puzzles.

RULES
● A common word picture puzzle will be shown to all the teams for a
minute.
● Each teams will be provided with a bell or a buzzer.
● The team who want to answer have to press the bell first.
● If the answer provide by the first team will be wrong then another team
will be given a chance. And if no team could decipher the answer then we
will move to next puzzle.
● The team with the maximum correct answers will be the winner.
● There will be only one winner for this event.
● Eg- MOONCEON , ANSWER- Once in a blue moon (The difficulty
level will be higher than this)

4. RURAL LE CARTE-

MEDIA EVENTS

1. INSTAGRAM BOMBER

The event is all about creating an Instagram page of OJAS ‘


19followed by your college name, making it creative by filling it
with as many photos/videos as possible or creating memories,
along with photos/ videos, the content and will also be a part of
evaluation. Refer to Jaipuria Institute of Management Instagram
page, and have a look at OJAS ’18 posts.

Rules:
a. The name of the page will be Ojas19_(Your College Name)
b. The Credentials will be shared with Media Cell of JaipuriaInstitute
of Management, Lucknow
c. The page with highest genuine followers will get a weight-age of
10%.
d. After the events gets over, The page will be deleted from Instagram
by Media cell of JaipuriaInstitute of Management, Lucknow

should be captured inside the college only.
e. The most creative page with good content will be awarded as the

2. SHOOT IT YAAR! (PHOTOGRAPHY


COMPETITION)

Photography is an art, with this I would like to brief about the competition,
The 2 day OJAS’ 19 will have so many events, the participants need to share
total of 5 photos for each day (10 Photos for 2 Days) withMedia Cell of
Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow. This time we have decided
photography competition to be Theme based, participants need to relate the
pictures with Theme. Theme for Day 1 is “Life At Jaipuria” and Day 2
is“Colors: Warm Vs Cool”

Rules:

a. Photos must not be edited/ no filter should be applied.


b. The photos should be of OJAS 2019 event only, and should be
captured inside the college only.
c. The participants need to share photos with the Media team of
JaipuriaInstitue of Management, Lucknow last by 10th November,
2019 7:00 P.M.

1. MECHANICAL ROBO RACE- BEST OUT OF


WASTE
Event type: Team Event - Team of 2

About:The event is about creating a robot out of waste material. The design
should be such that it should be purely mechanical in nature

Rules

1. No individual will be allowed in case s/he is not in team of 2


2. College in any case will not provide any team partner in case
participant himself or herself is not able to do so.

3. In case of no team, the participant will be disqualified and registration


fee will not be returned.
4. No of the team member in any case will be allowed to stand at the end
of the race before the race start.
5. No team participant will block the movement of other team’s robot.
6. No design will be accepted that will hinder the motion of the other
robots at the starting point. Though in the middle of the game it is
allowed. Only one robot can stop the motion of other. In case we find
team so, they will disqualified, no question asked.
7. The decision of the judges will be considered final; in case team need
any clarification contact the respective event coordinator.
8. Before the start of the race you will be given 5 min. of preperation
time to make any changes or setting up your robot. You are not
allowed to damage or make any kind of change to the track designed.
9. Length of track 10 feet.

RoboRule:

1. There should not be use of any electronic element like wire, bread
board, motor, battery, ICs etc. in the robot.
2. The activity is in Collaboration with “best out of waste” theme. So it
should be made using waste product.
3. Inspection of the robot will be done by the coordinator and you need
to explain it to the concern coordinator.
4. In case we found the robot is having any kind of electronic element,
the team will be disqualified there and then and no refund will be
done.
5. Starting point of every robot will be same.
6. No remote is allowed.

1. WALKATHON

1. Team will consist of four members.


2. One member will be blindfolded and the other three will guide that
person.
3. Once the blindfolded person steps on an object, the team loses there and
then.
4. Also it is a time based task and the team with minimum time would win.

2. DEVIL FOLLOWS
OJAS – 2019

1. Team will consist of four members.


2. Three members will be blindfolded and one cannot speak.
3. Time limit – 5 minutes
4. The team has to collect all the articles and make the product.

3. LEMON SPOON RACE

1. Team will consist of three members.


2. A relay race will take place.
3. First participant needs to walk a few steps with lemon on the spoon
and spoon in the mouth.
4. After the stipulated distance, the lemon has to be transferred to the
second participant’s spoon and then by the second person to the third.
5. Team doing the task first will win.
6. If the lemon falls, task will begin from scratch.
