A. CONTENT STANDARD: The learner understands the principles and uses of a position
paper.
III. PROCEDURE:
1. Pre-Activity

The students are will be asked to arrange the chairs properly and observe silence in the
class.
E. Review
The teacher will ask the students the meaning of position paper and what situation it can
be applied.
F. Presentation of the Lesson
1. Activity
The students will be asked, who among them have Facebook or email accounts.
2. Analysis
- What is the purpose of your email?
- Why did you register for an email account?
- How many messages did you usually receive or send everyday?
- Do these messages usually need immediate attention or action?
3. Abstraction
Part I. Reading of the selection: “The Other Side of Email?”
Like all new media, e-mail has a dark side? What purpose does this sentence
mean?
What are the advantages or disadvantages of the email based on the arguments
presented in the selection?
Does the author of the article totally reject the email?
Part II. Reading the selection: Women. Talk too much?
Does the subheading help in identifying the important ideas of the selection?
According to the article, what factors should be taken into consideration in
determining whether women or men talk too much?
4. Application
The class will be divided into 2 groups. They will have a debate on about the topic:
Who talk too much: Men or Women? They will present factual evidences only from what
they have read on the selection.
IV. Evaluation
Write a position paper on this topic: Does using Facebook and email account is important
to students? Why or why not?
V. Assignment
Write a position paper and present factual evidences to support your position
about this topic:
“Does social media give advantageous effect to studies? Why or Why Not?”
