Protecting A Worksheet: Protection Tab in The Rormat Cells Dialog Box

The document discusses how to develop an Excel application by unlocking cells, protecting worksheets, and setting worksheet protection properties such as allowing users to insert or delete rows while protecting selected cells and formulas. It notes that protecting a worksheet allows specifying available actions for users and adding a password for protection that is case sensitive, and forgetting the password makes removing protection very difficult.

Protecting a Worksheet
When you set up worksheet protection, you specify which actions are still available to
users in the protected worksheet. For example, you can choose to allow users to insert
new rows or columns, or to delete rows and columns. You can limit the user to selecting
only unlocked cells, or allow the user to select any cell in the worksheet. These choices
remain active as long as the worksheet is protected.
A protected worksheet can always be unprotected. You can also add a password
to the protected worksheet that users must enter in order to turn off the protection.
