SYNOPSIS
Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) provides students with the knowledge and skill in
producing cadastral and engineering survey plans with AutoCAD and relevant survey software
according to a standard format.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
2. Perform appropriate technique to download survey data for the production of cadastral
and engineering plan according to standard format. (P4,PLO2)
3. Demonstrate related design skills in CADD to produce cadastral and engineering plans.
(A3,PLO4)

EQUIPMENTS
SURVEY INSTRUCTION
1. Each student should know how to conduct the tools and commands in CADD
software.
WORK PROCEDURES
Go to main menu
Choose Tools and Drafting setting (if using command : type “osnap”)
Choose object snap modes by click at column in the box to be selected and then
click “OK”.
The purpose of this process to allow the object to be drawn starting right at the end
of the chosen object.
2. Demonstrate the use of the Cartesian and polar coordinates to draw lines.
There are three ways to operate the zoom commands in AutoCAD software. Either
using the menu bar icon or on the command line space and it depends on operator
conformable.
DCG2042-CADD
Run AutoCAD software programme. The overviews of this programme are shown
below.
After that, click “New Menu” and new layer will create at the table.
To rename the layer, Double click at “layer” and rename the layer such as “Jalan”.
RESULTS
At the end of this practical, student able to transfer the raw data (from Practical 1) to stadia file
in CDS software correctly. Student capable to define all the information and survey data and
determine the function of every data entry type in stadia file (in CDS software).
REPORT
At the end of this practical, student must write a report as follows:
i) Lab work title
ii) Objective
iii) Software used
iv) Lab work procedure
v) Analyzed / calculation data (if related)
vii) Comment / Conclusion
ASSESSMENT
Student will be evaluated as follows:
i) Preparation of work
ii) Following Procedure
iii) Group Discussion / Individual commitment

SURVEY INSTRUCTION
1. Each student should know how to reduce data to obtain calculation sheet and
topographic detail graphically.
WORK PROCEDURES
1. Start the CDS software, pull down FILE and select NEW. Rename this file for example
db.Import Raw Data and you can enter information about the project such as Description
and so on. Next click on Open and maximize the window size.
2. Pull down ENTRY menu and select Data Collector - Import Raw Data.
3. Next screen below will be out. Select the type of equipment used to make observations.
For example: Topcon - FC5, GTS6. Next click Browse to find where the observed data is
stored and press the OK button.
4. Next screen will exit the diagram below and then click OK.
RESULTS
At the end of this practical, student able to transfer the raw data (from Practical 1) to stadia file

WORK PROCEDURES
The data in the CDS software database will usually be transferred to the AutoCAD
software to enable editing of the graphics made before a plan is plotted. The export
is made by using the menu File and then Export DWG. Before that, several
parameters must be set in advance to facilitate the editing work done in AutoCAD
software.
For setting several parameters before being exported to AutoCAD, click on File and
select Plot Parameters such as the chart below. In this window there are several
sub-windows of Sheet Details, Parameters Point, Point Selection, String parameter,
and Contour.
In sub-Sheet Details window, what should be included is the name of DWG files to
be opened in AutoCAD software and click on the 3d to DWG / DXF.
DCG2042-CADD
Next click on the sub-window Point Parameters and check the Points box, Height,
Point # and Codes. The information indicated will be displayed in AutoCAD software
after export.
Then click on the sub window and click Point Selection ByLayer shown in the
diagram below. In this way, all parameters are exported to AutoCAD will be in a layer
/ layer respectively. This will facilitate the work of editing in AutoCAD software.
After that, click on the sub window and click on the parameter String Strings,
Bearings and Distances.
Click on the sub-window and click on Contours Contour, Smooth, Major and Minor
Label.
When the export is finished, a screen will appear. Then, click YES to view the
graphical display has been moved to the AutoCAD software.
Design the format using A3 size (420mm x 297mm). The information need to be
inserting on the plan.
Insert the plan into this drawing format and plot using the Plot command.
Plot.
DCG2042-CADD
Use your mouse to select entry from the options on the menu, and then select
electronic stadia.
Now you need to change the “type” of entry to be a station, and enter in the
coordinates of the point occupied or set up over in the field.
Use your mouse to select the “down arrow” on the right of the “type” column, and you
will be given a selection of the entry types available.
To check what you have achieved pull down the options menu item and select
calculate coordinates.
Pull down the options menu again and now select show coordinates.
Use the scroll bar at the bottom of the stadia screen to move the display to expose
the right hand side.
Student can plot using any plotter like HP, canon and many more.
RESULTS
In this practical, student will be export to DXF drawing format. It also help student to prepare
themselves for engineering and cadastral job which need engineering and cadastral plans at the
end of the survey job.
