OUTCOMES RTA: 6 hours

EQUIPMENTS

No Software / Equipment Quantity

1 Computer 1
2 Software AutoCADD 1
3 CDS Software 1

SURVEY INSTRUCTION

1. Each student should know how to export DXF drawing format.

2. At the end of this lab, student must write a report.

WORK PROCEDURES

1. Create DXF drawing format from data format.

 The data in the CDS software database will usually be transferred to the AutoCAD
software to enable editing of the graphics made before a plan is plotted. The export
is made by using the menu File and then Export DWG. Before that, several
parameters must be set in advance to facilitate the editing work done in AutoCAD
software.

 For setting several parameters before being exported to AutoCAD, click on File and
select Plot Parameters such as the chart below. In this window there are several
sub-windows of Sheet Details, Parameters Point, Point Selection, String parameter,
and Contour.

 In sub-Sheet Details window, what should be included is the name of DWG files to
be opened in AutoCAD software and click on the 3d to DWG / DXF.
DCG2042-CADD

 Next click on the sub-window Point Parameters and check the Points box, Height,
Point # and Codes. The information indicated will be displayed in AutoCAD software
after export.

 Then click on the sub window and click Point Selection ByLayer shown in the
diagram below. In this way, all parameters are exported to AutoCAD will be in a layer
/ layer respectively. This will facilitate the work of editing in AutoCAD software.

 After that, click on the sub window and click on the parameter String Strings,
Bearings and Distances.

 Click on the sub-window and click on Contours Contour, Smooth, Major and Minor
Label.

 Drawing is ready to be exported to AutoCAD software. In the space of database files,

click on File and then select Export DWG.

 When the export is finished, a screen will appear. Then, click YES to view the
graphical display has been moved to the AutoCAD software.

2. Draw engineering plan frame according to standard format.

 Run AutoCAD software programme.

 Design the format using A3 size (420mm x 297mm). The information need to be
inserting on the plan.

 Insert the plan into this drawing format and plot using the Plot command.

 Then, insert the drawing that has been prepared before.

3. Insert DXF drawing format to related plan frame.

 Open DXF file.

 Joining details by code

 Move height on at point.

 Edit text details.

 Plot.

4. Carry out editing processes using CADD software.

 Use your mouse to select entry from the options on the menu, and then select
electronic stadia.

 Now you need to change the “type” of entry to be a station, and enter in the
coordinates of the point occupied or set up over in the field.

 Use your mouse to select the “down arrow” on the right of the “type” column, and you
will be given a selection of the entry types available.

 Student must enter the data.

 To check what you have achieved pull down the options menu item and select
calculate coordinates.

 Pull down the options menu again and now select show coordinates.

 Use the scroll bar at the bottom of the stadia screen to move the display to expose
the right hand side.

5. Accomplish engineering plans according to scale.

 To plot the drawing, using command PLOT.

 Student can plot using any plotter like HP, canon and many more.

RESULTS

In this practical, student will be export to DXF drawing format. It also help student to prepare
themselves for engineering and cadastral job which need engineering and cadastral plans at the
end of the survey job.
