DEDICATION
The researchers would like to dedicate this project to Almighty God our creator, their
strong pillar, their source of inspiration, wisdom, knowledge and understanding.
As well as everything that the researchers do, they would be honor to dedicate this to
their parents. The two persons that gave them tools and values necessary to be where they
are standing today. Their parents support them on every step they make and decision they
take. But it is necessary to understand that they let them take their decisions alone in
order for them to learn from their personal mistakes and as their father says to “learn and
grow from each seatback”.
So that’s why they dedicate this research o their parents, whom expect their effort on
everything that they do.
The researchers would like also to dedicate this work to Mrs. Analyn Fernandez, their
English instructor, for guiding them always. And lastly, to their friends whose always
there for them to help and guide

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Today more than ever before, ”social media” has become a buzzword. Not only has
it gained popularity, it has been accepted into mainstream culture. There are many new
genres of social media that have gained traction here: blogs, wikis , media sharing sites,
social network sites, social bookmarking, virtual worlds, micro blogging sites, etc.
From the idea of open-source software, many great products came from jointly
sharing codes, information and knowledge. By joining forum and different online groups,
communities and network are formed. People can find other folks with similar interests
meet up or even jointly work on projects when they are miles apart.
Social media is not new. Media has been leveraged for sociable purposes since the
caveman’s walls. For decades we’ve watched the development of new genres of social
media-MVDs/MOOs, instant messaging, chat room, bulletin boards, etc.
Evolution of Social Media
1979- VSENET was the first service to link people with similar interest, allows them
share news
1984 - BBS (Bulletin Board System) The first BBS or electronic “Bulletin Board
System” was developed and was opened to the public in 1979 by Ward Christensen.
The early BBSes had no colors or graphics, but with the advent of MS-DOS 3.0, a
predecessor of HTML called ANSI was used to make colors and underground online
In order for us to understand better their influence to human being. As the most
vulnerable group of users of social media. We had set some questions to guide potential
readers of this work have solve “mind food” about social media and their influence. To
adhesive quality results we are going to answer the following question to the source of
the problem.

which is Facebook, Intagram, Twitter, etc. Since social media covers too many aspects
and denomination researchers are limitation, researchers are limited to choose only one

CHAPTER 2
DISCUSSION
Social media is imbibed in our lives so much that this generation cannot imagine their
lives without facebook, twiiter, nstagram etc. social media changed our lives drastically
that its impact cannot be ignored.
The first and main advantage of the social media is connectivity. People from anywhere
can connect with anyone. Regardless of the location and religion. The beauty of social
media is that you can connect with anyone to learn and share your thoughts. Social
media has a lot of benefits for the students and teachers. It is very easy to educate from
others who are experts and professionals via the social media. You can follow anyone to
learn from him/her and enhance your knowledge about any field. Regardless of your
location and education background you can educate yourself, without paying for it.
You can share your issues with the community to get help and giddiness. Whether it is
helping in term of money or in term of advice, you can get it from the community you are
connected with. The main advantage of the social media is that you update yourself from
the latest happenings around in the world. Most of the time, Television and print media
these days are biased and does not convey the true message. With the help of social
media you can get the facts and true information by doing some research.
Whether you have an offline business or online, you can promote your business to the
largest audience. The whole world is open for you, and can promote to them. This makes
the businesses profitable and less expensive, because most of the expenses made over a
business are for advertising and promotion. This can be decreased by constantly and
regularly involving on the social media to connect with the right audience.
Social media also create awareness and innovate the way people live. It is the social
media which has helped people discover new and innovative stuffs that can enhance
personal lives. From farmers to teachers, students to lawyers every individual of the
society can benefit from the social media and its awareness factor. - It is also one of the
advantages of the social media that it helps Governments and Security Agencies to spy
and catch criminals to fight crime.
Since our world has different religions and beliefs. Social media helps in building and
participating in the community of own religion and believes to discuss and learn about it.
Similarly, people of different communities can connect to discuss and share related stuffs.
For example Game lover can join games related communities, car lover can join
communities related to cars and so on.
Just like it can ruin any business reputation, It can also improve business sales and
reputation. Positive comments and sharing about a company can help them with sales and
goodwill. Since people are free to share whatever they want on the social media, it can
impact positively when good words are shared.
PURPOSE OF SOCIAL MEDIA
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google plus; some terms in the Social Media world
that we can’t ignore anymore. More and more businesses see profit potential in the billion
Social Media users on the internet. And, those businesses are right. There’s a ton of
money to be made from Social Media, if it is used the right way.
Marketing and advertising through Social Media can be quite easy when you know
what users are looking for. We live in an experience economy where value and trust are
important aspects for the potential customer purchasing a product. Customers don’t want
to buy just a product anymore. Customers want to buy a lifestyle. And, they want to
know everything about the product before purchasing. With this in mind, it’s important to
interact and participate with the potential customer.
The big mistake that businesses make when using Social Media is that they only
throw information on the users without any interaction. Throwing tones of information on
Social Media doesn’t work. People might read it, but they definitely won’t remember it or
tell other people about it. With interaction, participation and passion in your internet
platforms you will attract and capture your users.
So the original purpose of Social Media is not only for you to communicate with
other people. It’s also an effective tool for business promotion. It’s not only a way to let
people know that you exist, but to get to know your audience. And when you do, you
surely will be successful.
CONTRIBUTION OF SOCIAL MEDIA
Most of us use some form of social media every day - and whether it's for personal
communication, self-promotion or marketing, we use it religiously. Humans are
creatures of habit, but they're also opinionated and impatient. Those two traits alone
are the reasons why social networks thrive. People want the news fast and they want
to talk about it now.
Technological advancements have made it easier for people to express themselves and
relay news through social media platforms. But many people tend to focus on the
supposed negative effects of social media and forget about the good.
Social media provides students a new mechanism for a familiar exercise: that of
personal expression. It gives students an instant forum by which to publicly evaluate and
comment on their campus environments, institutional policies, classes, professors,
administration and fellow students in real-time. Like a high-speed rail, social media zips
through our campuses nearly unseen, dragging behind it the heavy weight of social
injustices and complicated jurisprudence accumulated from decades of student speech.
Given social media’s potential for positive impact, no one is suggesting we pull the
breaks on it, and in many ways the technology is already out of our grasp. Student-
teacher interaction is a constant part of the school day. Today’s students communicate via
technology.
Social media, throughout the communication world after 2005, has brought about
the transformation of personal and social changes, specifically, among youngsters
between the ages of 13 to 25 who use the social media intensely as a communication tool.
Such an effect of social media is of great significance in terms understanding how they
are utilized in courses and how students benefit from them in their learning processes. In
this study, the case of sharing the social media will be put forward with regard to the
relationship of teachers and students, that is to say, how they carry out their media
facilities for their courses and learning/teaching processes will be under the focus.

are many features of social media tools for the improvement of educational processes.
Social media can be used in education processes for improving communication skills of
students and teachers, expanding participation, empowering peer support, realization of
collaborative learning processes.
Users can manage their interactions within their own schedule by choosing when
they want to read and respond. The internet communication is a solitary activity usually
done alone. However, it is efficient because it is a one-to-many method of
communication which allows users to quickly spread information. In this study, the case
of sharing the social media will be put forward with regard to the relationship of teachers
and students, that is to say, how they carry out their media facilities for their courses and

DISADVANTAGES OF SOCIAL MEDIA
Hacking – Personal data and privacy can easily be hacked and shared on the Internet.
Which can make financial losses and loss to personal life. Similarly, identity theft is
another issue that can give financial losses to anyone by hacking their personal accounts.
Several personal twitter and Facebook accounts have been hacked in the past and the
hacker had posted materials that have affected the individuals personal lives. This is one
of the dangerous disadvantages of the social media and every user is advised to keep their
personal data and accounts safe to avoid such accidents.
Addiction – The addictive part of the social media is very bad and can disturb personal
lives as well. The teenagers are the most affected by the addiction of the social media.
They get involved very extensively and are eventually cut off from the society. It can also
waste individual time that could have been utilized by productive tasks and activities
Fraud and Scams – Several examples are available where individuals have scammed and
commit fraud through the social media. For example, this list contains the 5 social media
scams that are done all the time.
Security Issues – Now a day’s security agencies have access to people personal accounts.
Which makes the privacy almost compromised. You never know when you are visited by
any investigation officer regarding any issue that you mistakenly or unknowingly
discussed over the internet. Reputation – Social media can easily ruin someone’s
reputation just by creating a false story and spreading across the social media. Similarly
businesses can also suffer losses due to bad reputation being conveyed over the social
media.
Social Media causes death – Not just by using it, but by following the stunts and other
crazy stuffs that are shared on the internet. For example bikers doing the unnecessary
stunts, people doing the jump over the trains and other life threatening stuffs. For
example in this video 14 year old from Mumbai was doing stunts on a running train
which caused his death. These types of stunts are performed by the teenagers because of
the successful stunts made and shared over the social media.
Health Issues – The excess usage of social media can also have a negative impact on the
health. Since exercise is the key to lose weight, most of the people get lazy because of the
excessive use of social networking sites. Which in result brings disorder in the routine
life. This research by discovery will shock you by showing how bad your health can be
affected by the use of the social media.
Glamorizes Drugs and Alcohol – One of the disadvantages of the social media is that
people start to follow others who are wealthy or drug addicted and share their views and
videos on the web. Which eventually inspires others to follow the same and get addicted
to the drugs and alcohol.
Cheating and Relationship Issues – Most of the people have used the social media
platform to propose and marry each other. However, after some time they turn to be
wrong in their decision and part ways. Similarly, couples have cheated each other by
showing the fake feelings and incorrect information.
CHAPTER 3: SUMMARY
Social media is about conversations, community, connecting, with the audience and
building relationship. It is not just a broadcast channel or a marketing tool. Authentically,
honesty and open dialogue are key. Social media not only allows you to hear what people
say about you, but enables you to respond. Listen first, speak second. Be compelling
useful, relevant and engaging. Don’t be afraid to try new things but think through your
efforts before kicking them off.
CONCLUSION
Social media has created a powerful platform for consumer engagement. This report tell
us how much more power the consumers have in influencing a brand/product perception.
Businesses will need to stay at the top to their game and improve the quality of product
and services or their consumers will fight back. It will require businesses to their
marketing strategy genuine relationship building.
Social media provide a shift in how people discover, read and share news, information
and content. It is a fusion of sociology and technology transforming monologue into
dialog and is the democratization of information, transformation people from content
readers.
Social media with advanced technology is changing people’s lives more convenient and
faster. Also social media is still positive in spite of some negative things. Ironically, the
bigger social networking is in people’s lives. The more traditional values are important
such as trust and transparency. Social media is a tool, which is amazing and powerful. At
the same time. It is manageable for people. In the future, it will be same.
Both boys and girls say online connections bring them closer their real-world friends as
well. Eighty-four percent of networked-gaming boys and sixty-two percent of gaming
girls feel more connected to friends when they play online. Eighty-three percent of
teenage social media users say social media make them feel more connected to
information about their friends’ lives, and seventy percent says it makes them feel better
connected to their friends’feeling. And sixty-eight percent of teenage social media users
believed friends there supported them through tough or challenging times.
Take responsibility for your own safety and integrity and never join something just
because it is trendy or all your friends are doing it in evaluating the advantages and
disadvantages of social networking, it is best to be cautious. After all, the lack of both can
have devastating effect.
RECOMMENDATION
Parents should asses their child’s activities on social networking sites, and discuss
removing inappropriate content or connections to people who appear problematic.
Parents also need to pay attention to the online trends and the latest technologies, website
children are using.
