Lab Report-3: Leaf Identification

In a leaf identification lab report, the student describes examining leaf samples to learn how to identify different tree types based on leaf arrangement. Materials used included a lab manual, leaf samples, and writing tools. The conclusion discusses how the lab helped learn to study local ecology by identifying trees, and that while part of the activity was not completed, the skills learned could still be useful for forest ecology study back in India.

Lab Report- 3: Leaf Identification.

INTRODUCTION

Planting trees and plants is important, but it is also important to take care of them and maintain them to
ensure their continued survival. So, it is important to study the plants’ characteristics and that can help
determine what they would need to grow and survive. In this lab we learned how to identify different
types of trees by studied their leaves.

MATERIALS

For this lab we require the lab manual, the leaf samples and pen and paper.

DATA
CONCLUSION

In this lab, we learned how to identify different types of trees based on the leaf arrangement. This could
help us study the ecology around us. We did not get to the second part of the activity, which was to
measure trees on the street but this lab activity was nonetheless useful if I went back to my home town
in India and wanted to study the forest ecology in area.
