Lab Report-4: Museum: Data Is Uploaded With This Lab

This lab report describes a visit to the American Museum of Natural History to learn about biodiversity. The purpose of the lab was to understand why biodiversity is important, how and why it is changing, and what can be done to improve or prevent human-caused damage. The student observed organisms that are important for biodiversity. In the conclusion, the student notes that while previously visiting the museum, the focus was on dinosaurs and astronomy, but this lab session provided more detailed information, especially about the rainforest section which reminded them of their home town in India. The student learned how humans have negatively impacted the environment and something must be done to improve and protect it.

Lab Report- 4: Museum

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this lab is to learn about biodiversity, why it is important to the humans and all life in
general. How and why it is changing and what can we do to improve it or prevent it for human caused
damage. We visited the American Museum of Natural History to learn about some organisms that are
important for biodiversity.

MATERIALS/METHODS

For this lab a ticket to American Museum of Natural History and the lab packet was required.

CONCLUSION

I have been to the American Museum of Natural History before this lab but I had only looked at the
dinosaurs and astronomy related stuff before, but it was not to detailed. Especially, when I entered the
rainforest section it reminded me on my home town in India. My town was in a monsoon area and the
vegetation in the outskirts of the town look very similar to a rainforest, so this was quite a nostalgic
experience for me. This lab session was very informative on how humans have negatively affected the
Earth’s environment at an increasing rate. And I think something needs to be done to improve and save
the environment form further deterioration.
