Solid Mensuration: Quiz # 4 - Finals

1. The document is a quiz for a solid mensuration course. It contains two problems involving calculating volumes and surface areas of geometric solids. 2. The first problem involves calculating the volume of an irregular block made of a right triangular prism atop a rectangular prism. 3. The second problem involves calculating the surface area and volume of two spheres with different diameters, and the volume of water needed to submerge them in a cylindrical container.

Solid Mensuration: Quiz # 4 - Finals

1. Solve for the volume of the block shown in the figure below. The upper base is a right triangle; the lower is a
rectangle. All face angle at A and B are right angles. The altitude AB is 18ft. The edges BC and AD are parallel,
and all faces are planes. (5points)

2. Two balls, one 8 inches in diameter and the other 4 inches in diameter, are placed in a cylindrical jar 10inch
in diameter.
2.1. Solve for the surface area of the 4 inches diameter sphere. (1point)
2.2. Solve for the volume of 8 inches diameter sphere. (1point)
2.3. Solve for the volume of water just enough to cover both sphere place in the cylindrical jar. (3 points)
