To log into the switch using the default admin account without a password, enter "admin" for the username and leave the password blank. After logging in successfully, type "# cmdline-mode on" and enter the password "512900" when prompted to enable admin console mode. Then type "# system-view" to enter configuration mode, create a new VLAN with ID 100 and description "VoIP Network", and join port GigabitEthernet 1/0/40 to the new VLAN.

When presented with the login prompt enter the following information:

 Username: admin
 Password: (no password)

Note! If you changed the default configuration of the equipment, log in using an account with
administrative permission.
Note! In our example we are doing remote access to the switch through telnet with the software
PUTTY

After performing a successfully login, type the following command to enable administrative console
mode and when prompted, enter the password 512900.

# _cmdline-mode on

Enter the following command to enter configuration mode.

# system-view

Create a new VLAN, add an identification number and a description.

# vlan 100
# description VoIP Network
# quit
Join the VLAN created to one or more interfaces of the Switch.

# interface GigabitEthernet 1/0/40


# port access vlan 100
# quit
