Site Visit Report

The document summarizes a site visit report for a construction project on the Sastra main campus. The project involves building academic blocks including a bio tech building, school of computing, civil engineering building, central library, and lecture theatre complex. Construction began in May 2019 and is scheduled to take 11 months per building, with 40-45% completed so far up to the first floor for most buildings. Key findings from the site visit include that pile foundations ranging from 600mm to 300mm in diameter were used due to weak soil, different grades of concrete were used for various structures, and over 60 types of columns and 30 beams were utilized. The student concluded it was a valuable learning experience.

Introduction :

In our Sastra main campus a construction is going on. This contract is taken by
uniqcore constructions private limited. The construction was started on 4 th of may 2019. It is
the project for integrated academic blocks. The academic blocks include bio tech , school of
computing , school of computing ,school of civil engineering , central library and lecture theatre
complex(LTC).

The proposed time of construction project is 11 months for each building. Almost 40 – 45 % of
construction has been completed for every building now. Every building will be constructed
upto three floors (G+3). Different types of vehicles are used for different materials.

Now upto first floor were completed for every building (except library) . Lot of things we can
learn from it. Safety is most important in the site. So that every labour wear helmet , shoes and
jackets.. Different kinds of materials were used. They will go from foundation to roof level. I
observed different kinds of equipments. Weekly once in a week we visited the construction site
and the things I observed in the site is submitted by me in the form of report.

Findings :
1. The type of foundation they used is pile foundation. It is 600 mm diameter at depth of 20.5
m. It is friction pile type and under reigmed pile(300 mm diameter at 5.5 m depth). There are
totally 929 piles present in the site. 815 friction pile and 114 URP.

2. Since the soil surface is weak, here they recommending pile foundation.

3. They conducted various tests for pile foundation. Pile load test and pile integrity test are
conducted .

4. For identifying the type of foundation they conducted a test called soil bearing capacity test.
According to the test results they chosen the type of foundation.

5. Pre cast piles and on site piles were used.

6. Back filling(refill of excavated soil) the type of soil used is yellow laterite since they are
having high field density and higher percentage of compaction.

7. Different grades of concrete were used. For pile , plinth beams and lintel beams M30 grade is
used. For column and staircase M35 grade is used and for floors M25 grade is used.

8. 60 types of columns were used in the building. Nearly 30 + beams were used. The types will
vary according to the area of reinforcement.
9 .Type of steel used is HYSD bars (High yield strength deformed bars).

10. All buildings in the site were interconnected.

CONCLUSION :

I learnt lot of things from the site. It is a good chance for me to learn and acquire
more knowledge . It is useful for me and for students.
