ABOUT UC BERKELEY

Carmen Taglienti
Instructor at UC Berkeley Extension
Carmen has over 25 years of experience as an Analytics and Data
Management expert. He is a recognized leader in the Analytics, Data
Visualization, Data Science, Data Governance and “Big Data” space.

Currently, Carmen heads up Global Data Management and Governance


for State Street Bank and Trust Co. as the company moves to a
data-centric, governed, ontology approach, embracing data as a key
asset within the organization. Prior to State Street, Carmen has held
global roles in Analytics, Data Architecture and Informatics. Additionally,
he has built and led an Information and Analytics Practice for Slalom in
Boston, which focuses on working with clients to enable
business-focused, high-impact analytics solutions driven by modern
data architecture’s platforms.

Carmen is an adjunct professor at Merrimack College teaching Data


Management as well as Government, Law and Ethics in their online
graduate Data Science program. Additionally, he teaches Data
Warehousing, Visualization, Advanced Cloud Computing and Advanced
Analytics at Northeastern University.

THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE

The program is spread over 8 weeks and consists of Live Online Teaching Sessions,
Assignments/Application Projects and Discussions.

Orientation
The first week is orientation week. During this week, you will be introduced to the other
participants in the class from across the world and you will learn how to use the learning
management system and other learning tools provided.

Goal Setting
On other weeks, you have learning goals set for the week, including watching the video
lectures and completing the assignments. All assignments have weekly deadlines.

Live Online Teaching Sessions


The course is delivered via live online teaching sessions by a course instructor. Course
instructors are highly-experienced industry practitioners who contextualize lectures
and assist with questions you may have regarding your assignments.

Q&A Sessions
In addition to the live webinars, the course instructors also conduct Q&A sessions every week
or every alternate week to help participants clarify their doubts pertaining to the content.

Follow-Up
EMERITUS Program support team follow-up over email and phone calls with learners who are
unable to submit their assignments on time.

Continuous Course Access


You will continue to have access to the course videos and learning material for up to 12
months from the course start date.
