TCP Ip Questions

TCP/IP is a collection of networking protocols used to connect devices globally through the Internet. It has four layers - network, internet, transport, and application. Network Address Translation (NAT) allows multiple devices to share a single Internet connection by translating private IP addresses to public IP addresses. Gateways provide connectivity between network segments by translating communications to allow different systems to connect.

1. Question 1.

What Are The Networking Protocol Options For The Windows

Clients If For Some Reason You Do Not Want To Use Tcp/ip?
Answer :
NWLink (Novell), NetBEUI, AppleTalk (Apple).
2. Question 2. What Is The Role Of Tcp/ip In Data Transmission From Source
To Destination?
Answer :
Yes, lots of them, far too many to list here. Uri Raz maintains a TCP/IP
bibliography (the "TCP/IP Resources List") that is posted to the
comp.protocols.tcp-ip newsgroup on a monthly basis.

Networking Interview Questions

3. Question 3. Tcp/ip Has How Many Layers?
Answer :
5 layers: Network layer, Internet layer, Transport layer and Application layer.
4. Question 4. What Is The Major Disadvantage Of Star Topology In Case Of
Tcp/ip?
Answer :
One major disadvantage of star topology is that once the central hub or switch get
damaged, the entire network becomes unusable.

5. Question 5. What Are Gateways In Case Of Tcp/ip?
Answer :
Gateways provide connectivity between two or more network segments. It is
usually a computer that runs the gateway software and provides translation
services. This translation is a key in allowing different systems to communicate on
the network.

DHCP Interview Questions

6. Question 6. What Is A Link In Case Of Tcp/ip?
Answer :
A link refers to the connectivity between two devices. It includes the type of cables
and protocols used in order for one device to be able to communicate with the
other.
7. Question 7. What Is Tcp/ip?
Answer :
TCP/IP is a name given to the collection (or suite) of networking protocols that
have been used to construct the global Internet. The protocols are also referred to
as the DoD (dee-oh-dee) or Arpanet protocol suite because their early development
was funded by the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) of the US
Department of Defense (DoD).

or VxVM) Interview Questions

8. Question 8. What Is Tcp/ip Model?
Answer :
TCP/IP model is an implementation of OSI reference model. It has five layers.
They are: Network layer, Internet layer, Transport layer and Application layer.
9. Question 9. Briefly Describe Nat?
Answer :
NAT is Network Address Translation. This is a protocol that provides a way for
multiple computers on a common network to share single connection to the
Internet.

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) Interview Questions

10. Question 10. How Many Layers Are There Under Tcp/ip?
Answer :
There are four layers: the Network Layer, Internet Layer, Transport Layer and
Application Layer.

11. Question 11. What Is Tracert In Case Of Tcp/ip?
Answer :
Tracert is a Windows utility program that can used to trace the route taken by data
from the router to the destination network. It also shows the number of hops taken
during the entire transmission route.

Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) Interview Questions

12. Question 12. Mark One Of The Most Important Difference Between Tcp And
Udp?
Answer :
TCP is a connection-oriented and UDP is a connection-less protocol.

Networking Interview Questions

13. Question 13. How Is Tcp/ip Defined?
Answer :
All of the protocols in the TCP/IP suite are defined by documents called Requests
For Comments (RFC's). An important difference between TCP/IP RFC's and other
(say, IEEE or ITU) networking standards is that RFC's are freely available online.
14. Question 14. What Protocols Fall Under The Application Layer Of The
Tcp/ip Stack?
Answer :
The following are the protocols under TCP/IP Application layer:
FTP, TFTP, Telnet and SMTP.
15. Question 15. What Is Nos (network Operating System) In Case Of Tcp/ip?
Answer :
NOS, or Network Operating System, is specialized software whose main task is to
provide network connectivity to a computer in order for it to be able to
communicate with other computers and connected devices.

Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) Interview Questions

16. Question 16. What Do Mean By Tunnel Model?
Answer :
This is a mode of data exchange wherein two communicating computers do not use
IPSec themselves. Instead, the gateway that is connecting their LANs to the transit
network creates a virtual tunnel that uses the IPSec protocol to secure all
communication that passes through it.
17. Question 17. What Is Subnet Mask?
Answer :
A subnet mask is combined with an IP address in order to identify two parts: the
extended network address and the host address. Like an IP address, a subnet mask
is made up of 32 bits.

Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) Interview Questions

18. Question 18. What Protocols Fall Under The Tcp/ip Internet Layer?
Answer :
There are 4 protocols that are being managed by this layer. These are ICMP,
IGMP, IP and ARP.

19. Question 19. Mention One Real Place To Use Tcp/ip?
Answer :
LAN cards.
20. Question 20. What Is The Data Unit Of "transport Layer"?
Answer :
Segment.

Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) Interview Questions

21. Question 21. What Is The Way To Establish A Tcp Connection?
Answer :
By using acknowledgement.
22. Question 22. Can I Set Up A Gateway To The Internet That Translates Ip
Addresses, So That I Don't Have To Change All Our Internal Addresses To
An Official Network?
Answer :
This is called Network Address Translation, or NAT. In general it is a difficult
thing to do properly because many application embed IP addresses in the
application-level data (FTP's "PORT" command is a notable example) so NAT
isn't simply a matter of translating addresses in the IP header and recalculating
header checksums. Also, if the network number(s) you're using match those
assigned to another organisation, your gateway may not be able to communicate
with.
