SUBJECT : UWI Math Fair 2019

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Science and Technology of the University
of the West Indies (UWI) extends a cordial invitation staff and students of secondary schools to
attend the UWI MATH FAIR. The details of the fair are as follows

Date: Friday 22nd November, 2019


Time: 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Venue: The Sport and Physical Education Centre (SPEC) Indoor Facility /
JFK Auditorium.

This year, the theme will be “Math in the 21st Century”. There will be various booths with activities,
puzzles and brain teasers to attract students and promote enthusiasm for the field of Mathematics. A
number of competitions will be introduced including Math Essay, Math Quiz, Math Talent and Math
Model. The Department will have its own booth with posters, as well as persons attached to the
Department who can motivate students to consider careers in the field of Mathematics and Statistics,
as well as showcase our research areas.

Permission is granted for students and the accompanying teachers to attend the fair. For additional
