Introduction
Green practices in the hotel industry are growing worldwide as it is one of the demands of the
customers over the last decades. By several studies, business leaders in different fields have
inserted effort to change their corporate culture and structures to be more environmentally-
friendly and responsible such as modifying their existing services embracing the green practices
or eco-friendly services. According to Sumaylo (2016), embracing green practices is not only a
cost-saving undertaking but also a wise utilization of the depleting resources and exhausts the
tradition of reusing, recycling and reducing. Hotels have integrated many environmental
strategies into their operations for over a decade. Those initiatives vary from recycling to buying
local items to introducing robust certification requirements for LEED (Leadership in Energy and
