3. The School Directress Ptr. Lily Ferriol shared with the parents the philosophy, vision, mission,
goals and objectives of the school (PVMGO).

A. PHILOSOPHY – The school philosophy is based on Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in

the way he should go, and when he is old, he shall not depart from it.”

B. VISION – A school system that upholds Christian traditions of excellence in service to

God and humanity through liberating education towards a God-fearing society.

C. MISSION – Providing students with greater access to quality education that instills
Christian values, ideals and competencies essential to successfully meet the demands and
challenges of the 21st century.

D. GOAL – To be a progressive Christian institution committed to the total formation and

transformation of individuals into highly-educated, disciplined and enlightened leaders of
the future.

E. OBJECTIVES
- To provide the learners with knowledge, skills, attitudes and spirituality for the
holistic development of themselves, preparing them to face the challenges of
the 21st century.

- To develop the learners’ academic performance through high standards of

educational instruction and facilities support.

- To build a firm foundation of Christian values and principles by integrating

appropriate Biblical truths to the curriculum and all methods of learning.

- To create social awareness among the students and stir their love for the
country by engaging them in different meaningful community experience.

4. School Directress Ptr. Lily Ferriol enumerated the updates for this school year.

A. A bridge connecting the third floor of Building 2 to the 2nd floor of the canteen was
finished this summer, giving ease of access to high school students.

B. Turnstile entry points were estimated to be installed by September of this school year.

- Students will swipe their ID’s only twice for each school day – upon entering
the school premises and upon leaving it.
- The networks system has been updated to immediately send a text message to
the student’s parent or guardian upon swiping of ID’s.

C. The Minimart, a concessionaire inside the MCA campus, has been operational since
October of 2018.

D. The directress announced the health initiative programs of MCA for this school year.

- The annual medical assessment of all students, from preschool to senior high
school, will take place on August. This has been done annually for many years
now. The said medical assessment will include the following:
a. Vital signs
b. Optometry (mainly focused on detecting myopia or hyperopia)
c. Blood pressure for HS students only
d. Medical history interview, with subtle mental health check-up
e. Dental (check-up only and referral for treatment to the dental
clinic of choice of the student/parent)

- Letters will be given on the first week of school detailing the vaccinations
available for a discounted price.
a. Flu antiviral vaccinations
b. Pneumococcal vaccinations
c. Blood-typing
d. Complete first aid kit

- This school year, all students are required to bring 1 box of face masks. This is
to avoid spread of diseases via droplet transmission. The directress also
reminded parents that if their child is has an elevated temperature of 37.5
Celsius and above, they should just let their child rest and recuperate at home.
Once the child is well enough to come back to school, the parents will provide
an excuse letter for absence in the child’s Student Handbook, so that the child
can take makeup work for what he/she has missed.

- Once again, for the third year running, MCA has re-launched the hydration
program. Instead of water fountains, MCA has an 11-step distillation water
treatment station. This will ensure that students drink safer water compared to
water fountains.

5. The directress also reminded the parents, especially of high schools students, that all vehicles
entering the school grounds should have a sticker, which can be availed from the Admin office
for only Php 100. These include motorcycles, e-bikes and the like.

6. The directress gave an update regarding the updates to the school curriculum.

7. The directress invited the parents to an open forum. They can ask their questions in two ways.
One is by approaching the front of the stage where there is a mic that they can use. Another is
by writing their questions down on the sheets of paper that the teachers are distributing. Aside
from clarifications about the items discussed by the directress, here are the questions raised
and their corresponding answers:

Q: Can homework be lessened?

A: MCA already has a system in place where homework may not exceed 3 per day,
and teachers are not allowed to give homework over the weekends.
Q: Is the water free?
A: The water from the water station is free for the entire year for students who
will avail of the stainless steel tumbler.

Q: Why are our vaccinations discounted? Are these medicines authentic?

A: The MCA is working with Goodman Healthcare, a large-scale medical services
provider for the MCA System. We get the medicines straight from same
suppliers who also provide medicine for hospitals.

Q: Can students ride bikes on the way to school?

A: Yes, students may ride their bikes, provided that they wear safety gear. Take
note that accidents that might happen outside school grounds is not under the
jurisdiction of the school. There are designated parking for bikes in school.
Students must secure their bikes with their own chains and locks.

8. The faculty for SY 2018-2019 were presented to the audience.
