Sample of A Handover Note
Sample of A Handover Note
A well known classical music writer by name George Frederic Handel in his book “messiah”
wrote a chorus with these words; “their sound is gone out into all lands and their words unto the
ends of the world”. This was what the 2015/2016 SAFEM Administration started doing from the
beginning, and today we have come to mark and end to that beginning so as to give way for a
new beginning.
We cannot say we did our best, but we can say we gave our best a try.
It never looked easy at first, but it did become easy with the help of everyone us, and to this we
the outgoing administration say a very big thank you to you all.
Registration of Association
The association was registered with the students affairs department, with guarantees the
association an audience with the school, on 19th January, 2016.
Students’ mini-conference
This was aimed at Re-awakening students consciousness to the forestry discipline. To this we
were privileged to tap from the knowledge of our key note speaker Dr. E. Eniang (UNIUYO), on
The Role of Forestry in the Development of a Green Economy in Nigeria, which took place on
22nd January, 2016.
Conduction of Tutorials and Provision of study Materials
The administration was able to provide resource persons and study materials including past
lecture note, handouts, and past questions to help the students academically.
Affiliation with the Abia State Department of Forestry and Forestry Research Institute of
Nigeria (FRIN) Abia State
We were able to pave our way into the states’ forestry department and will forever have them
behind us whenever we need them. Running a SIWES program with FRIN also became a
success.
Awards
The administration was able to give out awards in the following categories.
- The association during this period was able to attract little financial support from
lecturers and outside the school.
- The association fully participated in the Book launch of her staff adviser
- The association also identified with 2 students out of 3 who host their fathers during the
period.
- The association also received from a member, a donation of a standard notice Board
courtesy of Mr. Samuel Okechukwu.
- The association was able to produce the MOUAECO chairman for the SUG elections
- The association also contributed to the sponsoring of the CNREM football team that
participated in the inter-college football competition.
Students Participation
The administration recorded up to 70 students out of 143 during her meetings, which was and is
encouraging. Over 75% of finals participated in the sendforth.
Forestry students were also part of the inter-college football competition. Forestry is also
represented in the SRC. But, sadly, no forestry student took part in the SUG debate/essay writing
competition.
SAFEM Week
The SAFEM week was a success with loads of activities including, an explosive awareness, a
visit to Ogbunike Cave, Anambra State, inter level football competition, and grand finale of
sendforth/Award day graced by the HOD, Dean, Director of Forestry Abia State and
representatives from FRIN.
It was in this occasion that we had a successfully transition for the Mr and Miss SAFEM where
Joel Ndukwe and Ifunanya Loveth Oluebube emerged as Mr/Miss SAFEM.
Landscaping Experimental courtyard Project
This project was launched as a propaganda to instill the idea of students in their SIWES, having a
place to practice landscaping which is becoming effective.
Challenges
The major challenge readily encountered were those of students participation and payment of
dues. Students should please support their leaders. Students should also come out bold, to
participate in school competitions.
Election
The administration experienced a standard free and fair election process, second of its kind in the
department. But sadly, students participation in the offices was not encouraging.

We will forever be indebted to the College Dean, Prof. M.C. Dike, the former HOD, Prof. A.U.
Ezealor and the incumbent HOD, Dr. Akachuku C.O; Dr. Sam Ogbonnaya, Mr. Benson

SAFEM. We appreciate you for all your support.
