1. Introduction - Ms. Sheila
Yet another November 14; yet another children’s day. Let
us thank the Lord Almighty, for, He has enabled us to pray
for the children and wish them ‘Happy Childrens’ Day’ once
more.
AS we all know, Childrens’ Day commorates the birthday of
the great national leader and the first Prime Minister of
Independent India ‘Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’. Childrens’
Day reminds us of Nehru’s love for children. Every
Childrens’ Day also brings along with it the message that
children should enjoy their rights and practice their
responsibilities.
In today’s world, children grow in the midst of several
challenges which we did not face 20 or 30 years ago. More
than any other time, it is now, that children need the
constant love and support, continuous motivation and
correction from the side of the parents and the teachers.
Above everything, they need the guiding light of the Lord
and the spirit of obedience and determination to follow that
light.
Dear children, today, is your day. On this happy occasion,
we would like to tell you that we love you and we care for
you. All that we do, be it a pat or a pinch; a smile or a
frown, we do with love so that you will grow and mature
into god-fearing and righteous adults tomorrow, our nation
counts on you, children. You are the best hope for the
future. The moral values and the sincere and honest ways
of living that you develop now is going to shape the destiny
of our nation and the world at large. With these thoughts in
our minds let us enter into this prayer service offering all
the children at the Lord’s feet.
2. After Ms Leena, Ms. Salomi

Let us quieten ourselves and

submit to God –

Let us bow down, close our

eyes and listen carefully to
this beautiful song – God is
our refuge and strength. He is
our friend in need- God is our
healer and an everpresent
help in times of troubles.

3. Song I (You are my refuge)

4. After Song I (You are my refuge), Ms. Vasantha

The entire object of true

education is to train the mind
to think – to make people not
just do the right things, but to
enjoy doing them, not just
become learned, but to love
knowledge, not just become
pure, just and generous
themselves, but to love purity,
justice and generosity so that
they can pass these qualities
on to those who watching
them.
5. After Ms. Vasantha, Ms Naina

Every piece of marble has a statue in

it waiting to be released by some one
of sufficient skill, to chip away the
unnecessary parts. Just as the
sculptor chips away at the block of
marble to make a beautiful statue,
dear children, we your teachers want
to educate you so that you become
beautiful little statues that will be
able to go out into the world and be
admired by the society. Your lives
should not only reflect your
knowledge of the subject but also that
you are fully equipped to face a
difficult world with courage,
determination and a strong will to
succeed!
6. After Ms Naina, Ms. Dhanya

An attitude of gratitude creates blessings.

It all starts with God, who is the one who created

everything in our lives. He created the world, the
animals, the sky, and every human being, and saw
that it was all good. If we want to have more
gratitude in our lives, we need to notice the blessings
that we have on a daily basis. It’s easy to feel
grateful when things are going well, but we really
need gratitude when our lives are chaotic and
messy, when we feel like there is no hope, because
gratitude gives us something to hope for. Through
gratitude, we find the hope for a better future
because we already have good things in our lives in
spite of the hardships that we suffer. Gratitude to
be found everywhere: in little things, in big things, in
our strengths, in our weaknesses, in the good times,
in the bad times, in the ordinary, and in the
extraordinary. All we need to do is open our eyes
and ask God to help us see the blessings in
everything. Great blessings are promised to those
who are grateful. The Lord said, “He who receiveth
all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious;
and the things of this earth shall be added unto him,
even an hundred fold, more”
7. Song II (Thank you Lord)
8. After Song II (Thank you Lord), Mrs. Gloria
The Bible Reading is taken from the book of Proverbs Chapter 3 Verses 1 – 7; 11 – 13; 17- 18

1 My son, do not forget my teaching, 11 My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline,
but keep my commands in your heart, and do not resent his rebuke,
2 for they will prolong your life many years 12 because the LORD disciplines those he loves,
and bring you peace and prosperity. as a father the son he delights in.
3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; 13 Blessed are those who find wisdom,
bind them around your neck, those who gain understanding,
write them on the tablet of your heart. 17 Her ways are pleasant ways,
4 Then you will win favor and a good name
and all her paths are peace.
in the sight of God and man.
18 She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her;
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
those who hold her fast will be blessed.
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
This is the Word of God.
and he will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the LORD and shun evil.
9. After Ms Gloria, Ms. Prisca

Goodness, Strength,

Health, Calmness,
Contentment and
Happiness comes from your
faith in God and in
yourselves – so children
hold on to God and his
promise to make you
worthy to live meaningful
lives.
10. After Ms. Priya, Ms. Josephine Paulina

Fear imprisons, faith liberates

Fear paralyses, faith empowers
Fear disheartens, faith encourages
Fear sickens, faith heals
Fear makes us useless,
faith makes us useful
and most of all –
Fear makes us feel hopeless, while
Faith rejoices in God’s strength in us.
So children, have Faith in God, in
your parents and teachers and in
yourselves.
11. After Ms. Josephine Paulina, Ms. Vemboo

12. After Mrs Ursula, Mrs. Aroquiamarie

God extends His loving compassion to us

despite our sinful condition. He loves us so
much and cares about us so intensely in
spite of our miserable conditions. His mercy
and grace are new every morning.

Let us wake up to a fresh supply of God’s

mercy when we open our eyes to greet
each new day. He is there to meet us and to
help us through our difficult times. His eyes
are always upon us, watching over us with
love and compassion.
13. Tamil Song
14. After Tamil Song, Ms Mary Josephine

Listen to some beautiful verses from

the Bible that will strengthen you.
1. Trust in the Lord with all your heart.
Shun evil and fear the Lord this will
bring health to your body and
nourishment to your loves.
2. In all your ways acknowledge Him
and He will make your paths straight.
3. Preserve sound judgement and
discernment, for they will be life for
you. Then you will go on your way in
safety and your feet will not stumble.
4. Let love and faithfulness never leave
you – then you will win favour and a
good name in the sight of God and
man.
5. Hold on to the instruction of the wise
– do not let it go, guard it well, for it is
your life.
15. After Ms Mary Josephine, Ms Grace

This world is fast becoming darker

and darker with all kinds of problems
– There is Chaos all around us and
we must do something about it.
The function of light is to show
everything clearly. When God’s love
shines in our lives, we are able to
spread clarity instead of confusion
into our world. We are all children of
God. If God is light, then we must
reflect that pure light and allow that
flame to shine brightly to light up the
lives of those around us.
Let us ask God to first fill our lives
with the light of knowledge and
wisdom so that all of us can become
little lights to brighten the world.
