How To Fix Error Mastercam Crash On Start Up

Installing certain NVIDIA graphics drivers causes Mastercam 2017 to crash on startup or when resizing windows on laptops with Intel CPUs and NVIDIA Kepler or Maxwell graphics cards. The issue is resolved by installing NVIDIA driver version 377.11 or reverting to an earlier supported driver like 369.49. Disabling the integrated graphics in the BIOS is another workaround.

Laptops during resizing
Update: NVIDIA has released a new WHQL driver for the Quadro series (377.11) that will no longer crash Mastercam when
resizing the window.

Problem
Installing the latest NVIDIA driver will cause Mastercam 2017 to crash on startup or during resizing of the window.

Cause
Laptops running Windows 10 1607 (Anniversary Update) with a NVIDIA driver 370.00 or higher and a Intel CPU with optimus
enabled will experience the crash.

Video cards affected:

All Kepler series (K1000M, K2000M, ect..)

All Maxwell series (M1000M, M2000M, ect..)


Other video cards may experience the crash but have not been reported / tested.

WHQL release drivers not supported:

372.95

375.63

375.86

376.33

376.62

376.84

Solution
Install the latest NVIDIA driver 377.11 or revert to the latest supported driver, which is version 369.49.

An alternate workaround is to disable the integrated graphics in the BIOS.
