I. Objectives:
At the end of 45 minutes, 90% of the students, will be able to:
a. classify statements from fact and opinion
b. convert statements from fact and opinion and vice versa
c. create a slogan with a fact and an opinion statements

this statements anywhere in the

“So right now, I will group the class “Yes Ma’am!”


into two groups and each group
will be going to classify the
statements if it is a fact or an
opinion. Is it clear?”

“The Group 1 will be going to “Yes, Ma’am!”

“Okay, well done. Now, I will
distribute this text entitled “The
dilemma of Customs Broker”. Then,
all of you will read the story aloud
before we will check your answers
earlier.”

Interactive Discussion
1. After reading the text, the teacher and the students will be going to
check the statements according to its classification.
2. After checking, the teacher will be going to ask these following
questions below and some discussions:
a. For group 1, how did you find out that these statements expresses
truth?
b. For Group 2, how did you find out that these statements express
one’s belief? Point an example.
(the teacher will now reveal the lesson, and present the key
words/points to differentiate fact and opinion)
c. Is there a possibility that we can turn a fact statement into opinion
and an opinion to fact?
Ex. - Abraham Lincoln was president during the US Civil war. FACT
__Abraham Lincoln was a great president.___
- Going to the doctor is scary. OPINION
__A doctor has many years of education.__

D. Vocabulary “” game
1. With the same group, the teacher will be going to provide a fact/opinion
statement and each group will have to convert it to opinion/fact by
paint me a picture game.

C. Application Slogan Making


1. Each group will be going to make a slogan about Davao City and
should have at least one fact and an opinion written on the slogan.
VII. Evaluation: Pair Quiz
I. Directions: Given are two sentences about an idea. Put a cross mark (X) in
the box if a sentence expresses an opinion. Put a check mark (√) if it
expresses a fact.

II.Directions: Read each statement below. Decide it is a fact or opinion and


write your decision in the blank. Then, convert it, if the statement is an
opinion; write a fact about the topic in the space provided. If it is a fact,
write an opinion about the topic.
