This drive motor fits all Whirlpool, Roper, Estate, KitchenAid, Maytag, Sears Kenmore
brand dryers before 1996. Motor is complete with pulley.
Shaft Length Blower : 1-3/4" Drive Shaft : 1-3/4"
Blower screws directly onto motor shaft via left hand thread. motor replaces the

Remove the blue wire that is connected from the terminal # 4 on the new
motor to the thermal overload switch ( see the picture of the motor on the
right side above )
6) Cut off old terminal and crimp the new terminal provided on the black
wire from # 6 on the old motor and the white wire from # 5 on the old motor.
7) Remove the red wire from terminal # 2 from the old motor and install on
the terminal # 2 on the new motor.
8) The black wire that went to terminal # 6 from the old motor, now install it
( with the newer smaller terminal ) onto # 6 on the new motor.
9) The white wire that went to terminal # 5 from the old motor, now install it
( with the newer smaller terminal ) onto # 5 on the new motor.
10) The red wire that was on terminal # 1 on the old motor goes onto
terminal # 1 on the new motor.
11) The blue wire from terminal # 4 on the old motor goes onto the motor
thermal protector terminal. This is the terminal left over from the removed
blue jumper wire....please see the right side picture above.

Operation of burner cycle:

1 power sent to burner. 2 power travels thru first coil and igniter. As coil gets hotter it’s
resistance drops. As it glows it triggers sensor which causes 2nd coil to activate allowing
gas to flow and ignite.3 flame keeps igniter hot and resistance low flame stays on.
1 “On” power
2 first coil on and igniter glows
3 second “click” of 2nd coil and flame should ignite
FLAME SENSOR
The flame sensor is not a common problem, but it is an easy do-it-yourself gas dryer
repair. The flame sensor is located on the side of the burner box. If when you
preformed the test I described above the igniter glows red for more than a minute or
so or it doesn’t come on at all, the flame sensor may be bad. If the igniter glows red
for more than a minute or so the flame sensor is bad and it needs replacing. If the
igniter doesn’t come on at all and the igniter checks good in the test above you need
to check the flame sensor. To check the flame sensor disconnect power from the
dryer. Then remove the front off the dryer (unless you can work from the small
access door in the front). Now unplug the flame sensor and using your ohmmeter
check to see if you have continuity between the two terminals on the flame sensor. If
you do not have continuity, the sensor is bad and needs replacing
GAS VALVE
This section of this gas dryer repair guide will discuss the gas valve. If when you
preformed the test and the igniter glowed for a minute or so then cut off but the
flame didn’t light, the gas valve is bad (assuming you have gas coming to it). Most of
the time the coils are the only things bad and there is no need to change the whole
valve.
