1. A boost regulator has an input voltage of 𝑉𝑠 = 10 𝑉, the average output voltage is 30 V

and the average load current 𝐼𝑎 = 1.0 𝐴. The switching frequency is 25kHz, if 𝐿 = 150µ𝐻,
and 𝐶 = 220µ𝐹. Determine
(a) The duty cycle
(b) The ripple current of inductor
(c) The peak current of inductor
(d) Ripple voltage.
2. A step down chopper as shown in figure 1 has a load resistance R = 0.30 ohm, input voltage
𝑉𝑠 = 500 𝑉, and battery voltage E=0 V. The average load current 𝐼𝑎 = 175𝐴 and chopping
frequency f=250 Hz. Use average output voltage to calculate to calculate the load
inductance L, which limit the maximum load ripple current to 10% of 𝐼𝑎 .

3. A step-up chopper has load voltage of 500 V and is supplied from a constant input dc
Source of 180 V. If the OFF-time of the chopper is 50-μs, compute the ON time of the
Chopper. Also compute the ON time for the same frequency. If the desired output Voltage
is 300 V.
4. A step-down dc chopper has load resistance of 30 Ω. Chopper input voltage is 300 V. The
Chopper switch has the drop of 1.5 V when conducting. If the chopper frequency is 2 KHz.
Find the input and output power of the chopper at the duty cycle of 0.5. Also find Chopper
efficiency.
5. The buck converter has an input voltage of 𝑉𝑠 = 15 𝑉. The required average output voltage
is 6V and peak to peak output ripple voltage is 20 mV. The switching frequency is 25 kHz.
If the peak to peak ripple current of the inductor is limited to 0.7 A, determine
(a) Duty cycle
(b) Inductance L
(c) Capacitor C.
6. A buck-boost converter operating from 15V DC supply has an inductance of 260µH,
capacitance of 470µF across the load of 15Ω. The switching frequency is 25KHz. Calculate
ripple in the output current and output voltage for an inverted output of
a. -8V
b. -20V
Also find the critical value of inductance and capacitance for the above mentioned output.
