Lesson Plan – 30 mins demo
 Target Vocab: apple, banana, orange, grapes, pineapple, dragon fruit, strawberries, yummy,
yucky
 Structures: what is it? "What fruit do you like (to eat)?", "I like ..., yummy”, “ No, I don’t,
yucky”.

- Gift Box with Plastic fruit inside
- Worksheet
 Objectives: Saying different fruit and talking about likes. In this lesson students practice saying
different fruit and talking about likes and dislikes. Students play fun games and activities, sing
a song and do a matching worksheet.

 Note for teachers: Need to watch and learn by heart the songs before class, smile, speak loudly to
make attention of class, say “ Hi 5” or “ good job”, when the kids answer your question. Make
fun and joyful for class.

Introduce about yourself:

Teach Vocabulary:

The first model time.


Show the gift box to the kids, move the box to the right or left when you
shack the box, the rattling sound will instantly alert your students. Then say:
“This is my secret box. Who want to know what is inside?”
Put your hand in the box and grope, pretend you are touching something
interesting inside. Then quickly pull your hand out of the box with nothing
and say “oh hoe... nothing! Ok, let try again. (Put back your hand into the
box). Oh, I am touching something so smooth. Class, can you guess what
this is?” Pick up 1 fruit and pull it out of the box then ask:

“Waa! What fruit is this?” (Wait a little bit for their answers). Then
introduce “This is an apple…” Ask kids to speak loudly “an apple” (Elicit /
teach the name and chorus x3)

The second model time.


Make 1 more example with another fruit with the same actions.
- “Waa! What fruit is this? (wait a little bit for their answer) Then
introduce “This is strawberries…” Repeat 3 times (ask kids speak
loudly “Strawberries!”)

The third model time.


Let’s the kids try to take the fruit from the box. Ask them: “Who want to
try?” Choose who those raise their hands. Then continue introduce all the
rest fruits with the same question until finish. Encourage them to say
"yummy!" or even “yucky!”
- Chorus each word three times and then ask your students to individually
say each word. ( 3 times: low x 3, medium x 3, high voice x 3)

Teach structures "What fruit do you like?" and "I like ~" (4 minutes)

Sit everyone down to watch you. Take out the 6 (or 8) plastic fruit.
Take one and say "Yummy! I like (apples)!” Put it to your right side.
Take another fruit and do the same.
Next, take a fruit and say "Yuk! I don’t like (pineapple)".
Put it to your left.
Keep going with the rest of the fruit until you have some fruit (likes) on
your right and some (dislikes) on your left.
Put the fruit you like in front of you and say “I like apples, grapes,
pineapples … etc.).
Then ask a student "What fruit do you like?”
Encourage him/her to say "I like …" and list the fruit he/she likes.
Go around the class asking each/ some student the question (depend on the
time)

*Extra questions for high level students:


- “Is it sour or sweet? It’s sweet” (for kids age: 5 years old)
- “Do you like apple?” Now mime biting the fruit and chewing, and
then say "Yummy!” Then hold the fruit in front of each student to let
them take an imaginary bite. Encourage them to say "yummy!"
- Ask kids: “Do you like Apples?” – Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.

- “Is it sour or sweet”? – “It’s sour”. (for kids age: 5 years old)
- “Do you like Strawberries?” No, I don’t. “Yucky!” Now mime take
the strawberry away, frown and shook head like you don’t want to
eat strawberry then say “Yucky!”
- Ask kids: “Do you like Strawberries?” – Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.

Games (10 GAME 1: Pass the Microphone (4 minutes)

Hold up a toy microphone or other or other object
Look at a flash card and then speak into the “microphone”
“Banana!” / “It’s a banana!”
“I like banana! Yummy”
Pass the microphone to the child next to you and have them sing or speak,
they then pass to the next student. Let silent students skip
Materials: toy microphone, flashcards / plastic fruit

GAME 2: Play "Fruit Rope Jump" Game: (6 minutes)


Divide class to 2 teams. Take a length of rope, and lay it across the floor at
one end of the classroom. On one side place the 8 plastic fruit and the box 1
for team 1, box 2 for team 2. Have your student’s line up on the other side of
the rope. Model: “Put the (apple) in the box". Run up to the rope, jump over
the rope (say "Jump!") select the correct fruit and put it in their team box.
Which team collects faster will get point star. Which team is winner will get
sticker by the teacher.

Song, give Sing the " Fruit Song” (play from 0:00 – 2:15 minute)

you/ goodbye Stand in the middle of the room and sing / clap along to the song with kids.
(5 minutes) You can have the kids clap along and pat their knees as they sing. Also,
have them point to the fruit pictures on the classroom walls as they sing each
fruit. Teacher is modeling for students.

Giving Homework – “A Fruit Match-up Worksheet”. (2 minutes)


Give out the "A Fruit Match-up" worksheet to each student. Have everyone
match in the fruit pictures. Then model the task – hold up your worksheet

and say "What fruit do you like?" Circle the fruit you like, each time saying
"I like (apples), etc." Then get the class to do the same. Circulate and check
and ask questions (What fruit do you like?).

Wrap Up: Raise the kids: “Well-done! You have a good job, today. Let‘s
take care your body every day! Thank you and Goodbye! See you!”

Dear teacher!

There are some notes when you teach demo class:

 Preparing lessons carefully.


 Arriving at school about 10 - 15 minutes earlier.
 Wearing formal uniform or white shirt if you have.
This Lesson Plan is basic. Your lesson will be flexible depending on the age of the students

3 - 4 years old: 4 vocabs

4 - 5 years: 6 vocabs

5 - 6 years old: 8 - 10 vocabs (including old and new words)

Teacher can be flexible shorten or extend the time of activities depending on the student's actual
level.

Please manage your time when you organize the games. There are 2 games above. Teacher can
play 1 or 2 games depend on time line. Need to finish on time.

Please speak out loud, guide the activities/ games clearly and lively illustrate with funny
emotions. Dance and sing when you play song with your high emotion to drive to the kids
following yours.

This Lesson Plan is guiding. Teacher can change / add your ideas about activities, songs or create
your lesson to make it more excited (if you think necessary).
