INTRODUCTION
Agriculture production and farm incomes in India are frequently affected by natural disasters
such as droughts, floods, cyclone, storms, landslides and earthquakes. Capable of agriculture to
these disasters is compounded by the outbreak of epidemics and manmade disasters such as fire,
sale of spurious seeds, fertilizers and pesticides, price crashes etc. all these events severally
affect farmers through loss in production and farm income, and they are beyond the control of
the farmers. With the growing commercialization of agriculture, the magnitude of loss due to
unfavorable eventualities. The question is how to protect by farmers by maximizing such losses.
For a section of farming community, the minimum support price for certain crops provide a
measure of income stability.
Agricultural insurance is one method by which farmers can stabilize farm income and investment
and guard against disasters affects of losses due to natural hazards or low market value.
In recent days the Indian government proved a variety of agricultural insurance scheme to the
formers. The study aims at knowing the various schemes under which the agricultural insurance
are provided to the formers for their loss and other natural disasters.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The government in India has introduced the innovative schemes on agricultural insurance but
these schemes are failed to meet the expected results due to the low policy implications,
unawareness of farmers, unsatisfied performance of implementing agencies as well as limited
stat and central government.
SOURCES OF DATA
Data collection is the method used in collecting data for a particular use or study.
The data collected from only secondary data, the secondary data collected through newspapers,
books, journals, articles and websites.
PLAN OF ANALYSIS
The data collected for the study is of primary and secondary in nature and hence the
questionnaires are formulated followed by interviews with the respondents. The data will be
presented by using statistical tools. This will help to understand the data easily and to make the
interpretation.
