The Four Rules of Gun Safety provides an almost foolproof guide to prevent any
accident. As gun handler/owner, you must make them second nature to you. Be a
responsible and safe gun handler/owner.
UNLOADING A PISTOL
Pointing the pistol in a safe direction, Keep your finger off the trigger and remove the magazine.
Pull the side rearward one or more times to insure the chamber is empty.
Watch for a live round or empty case to be ejected. Pull side rearward and lock it with the slide
catch lever holding the slide open.
Make sure the last round in the chamber has been extracted and ejected.
Visually and physically check the chamber and the magazine well to make sure the pistol has
been unloaded. Physically insert your index finger in the chamber and feel for the presence of a
round or cartridge case in chamber. The pistol is now unloaded and safe.
Depress the slide catch lever the slide will be released forward .
Unload and store the magazine.
Pick up and store all loose rounds and empty cartridge cases.
The pistol must be cleaned after every shooting session.
FIREARMS CONDITION
Condition 1 – Magazine Inserted, Chamber Loaded
Condition 2 – Magazine Inserted, No Chamber Load
Condition 3 – Magazine Not Inserted, Firearms and Magazines are separate
