Abstract
This is the problem set for SORY-Same Old Rmo Mock Yaar! This is a
mock RMO 2019 jointly created by Aditya Khurmi1 and Satyam Mishra2 . We
list the set of rules on this page, and the problems are on the next page. Enjoy!
§ Rules
• Each problem is worth 10 points.
• The time limit for the test is 4 hours. Despite this concrete number, you are
under no supervision so you may try the problems after the time limit is up.
• Bonus points are awarded if your solution proves a better bound than requested
and/or your proof is different from the official one. Just to clarify, the bonus
points would be the non-real part of your score, like 8 + i means you got an 8
on the problem and 1 bouns point.
• You can either write up the solutions on paper or type it up (recommended).
Either way, you have to submit it by PMing both of us3 on AoPS. If you have
our contact numbers, you may send your solutions there.
• The submission deadline is 30 September 11:59 pm. However, we might extend
this on special request.
• Any unfair methods to solve the problems (like discussions, searching on AoPS
etc.) is at your own loss. You should be honest to yourself.
• The questions are intended to be original so trying to search them off shouldn’t
help.
• There will be a leaderboard after the exam is over. You may opt to keep your
name anonymous for the list if you want. So please submit the solutions without
any ”social fear” and also submit it even if you did some partial progress!
• The purpose of this mock, despite its name, is not to measure your capability
level and/or preparedness for RMO, rather just a fun mock whose problems
should be taken lightly with a cup of tea.
• Finally, if you have any query regarding the paper, than PM either of us instead
of posting it on the AoPS thread to cause confusion.

§ Problems
Problem 1: Let a1 , a2 , . . . , a5 ∈ R+ satisfying a1 + a2 + · · · + a5 = 1. Prove that

Y
32 · (1 + ai ) ≥ 243 · (1 − ai )
i=1 i=1
|x − my| > ty
Problem 3: Let ω be a fixed circle with two fixed points B, C on it. Let A be a
variable point on ω. For some position of A, define γ as the A excircle of 4ABC,
and the center of γ is IA . Let γ intersect BC, CA, AB in D, E, F respectively. Let
the orthocenter of 4DEF be H.
As A moves on ω, show that the line HIA passes through a fixed point.
for all x, y ∈ N.
Problem 6: Let ABC be a triangle with incenter I. Let the incircle be tangent to
the sides BC, CA, AB at D, E, F respectively. Let P be the foot of the perpendicular
from D onto EF. Assume that BP, CP intersect the sides AC, AB in Y, Z respectively.
Finally, let the rays IP, Y Z meet the circumcircle of 4ABC in R, X respectively.
Prove that the tangent from X to the incircle and the line RD meet on the
circumcircle of 4ABC.
Have fun :)

e is the Euler’s constant, and π is... well... pi. Possible hint: e ≈ 2.71 and π ≈ 3.14. Also, b c
is the floor function, aka the greatest integer function.
