WPA Report FSG301
WPA Report FSG301
This report aimed to be aware of all hazards at Makmal Biologi Molekul 1 in UITM Tapah that
can lead to any source of potential damage, harm or adverse health effects on something or
students. The laboratory identified in the assignment that could give a bad impact to high
risks and harm is the position of bunsen burner near to the electrical source. The outcome of
this report is to identify the type of hazard that occur while doing the experiment of
Technique in Microbiology I and also some of the suitable method that were selected to
catogarized the risk involved. In order to identify the hazard and evaluate the risk, the risk
assessment method was carried out. During the risk assessment process, the level of harm
occurred will be assessed. The preventive measures to cut off this censorious hazard are then
recommended based on the findings obtained.
INTRODUCTION
Makmal Biologi Molekul 1 had been monitred by an assistant science officer of faculty of
applied science. This laboratory located at Fsg Blok A, level 2. The nature of laboratory is for
applied science students evaluating their laboratory skills by doing an experiment.

Activities
There are many type of experiment done at this laboratory but the purpose of this assignment
only one type of experiment that might have several potential damage, harm or adverse
health effects on something or students. The activities that lead to the occurance of hazard
are discussed in this report such as the handling of bunsen burner and the usage of high
concentrated chemical.
Work environment
The whole experiment and procedure that is done by the students contain various hazard.
The hazard identified are slippery floor that can makes student fell, the position of the bunsen
burner that near to the electrical source, the usage of high concentration of alcohol, the sharp
edge of laboratory desk, the health hazard due to the inhalation of spores from bacteria
culture process and also the gas button located at the laboratory desk that is not covered
which may harm our respiratiory system due to the leakage of gas hydrogen.
OBJECTIVE
I. Physical Hazard
A physical hazard is defined as ‘A factor within the environment that can harm
the body without necessarily touching it. Vibration and noise are examples of
physical hazard.
II. Biological hazard
Biological hazard refers to organism or organic matters produced by these
organisms that are harmful to human health. These include parasites, viruses,
bacteria, fungi and protein.
III. Chemical hazard
A chemical hazard is any substance that can cause a health problem or risk and
dangers. They include toxins, dangerous chemicals, residue of excess
chemicals.
IV. Ergonomic hazard
An ergonomic hazard is a physical factor within the environment that harms
the musculoskeletal system. It includes themes such as repetitive movement,
manual handling, workplace/job/task design, uncomfortable workstation
height and poor body positioning.
V. Psychosocial hazard
A psychosocial hazards include but are not limited to stress, violence and other
workplace stressors.
