IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting Ask the students about the hot issues in our society nowadays. Let them enumerate more issues
the new lesson that they know. E.g. SOGIE Bill, No Assignment Policy for students.

B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson The teacher will present two emoticons (thumbs up and thumbs down) to the class.

Using the said emoticons, the teacher will present topics wherein the students will give their
response whether they agree or disagree. Thumbs up if the agree to the statement and thumbs
down if they do not.

1. Changing the lyrics of Lupang Hinirang “ang mamatay ng dahil sa’yo” to “ang ipaglaban
kalayaan mo” is really needed.
2. No Assignment Policy must positively be approved in the senate.
3. SOGIE Bill is undoubtedly a serious topic nowadays.
4. Extra judicial killing is not really alarming.
5. Using cellular phones inside the classroom is absolutely prohibited.

After the activity, ask the students the following questions:


 What have you noticed from the statements given?
 Will you enumerate the words written in bold letters?
 What part of speech are those words written in bold letters belong?

C. Presenting examples/instances of the Present to the class what adverb of affirmation and negation means.

Adverbs of Affirmation or Negation – are adverbs used to answer the questions raised by others.

D. Discussing new concepts and practicing An adverb of affirmation is used in a sentence to affirm it as true. Generally, these adverbs are
new skills #1 used to answer the question in an affirmative manner, e.g., “yes” or “yeah”.

Affirmative Adverbs
Really, certainly, absolutely, positively, definitely, truly, undoubtedly, yes, all right, exactly,
obviously, surely

Examples:
1. She positively identified the attacker.
2. You are truly genius.
3. Yes, they are coming.
4. It was truly an awesome experience.
5. He is undoubtedly great.

An adverb of negation is a grammatical construction that contradicts all or part of the meaning of
a sentence. It is the adverb used in a sentence to deny it as true. It answers the question in a
negative manner, e.g., “no” or “never”.

Negation Adverbs
Almost, contradict, no, invalidly, never, rarely, scarcely, not or words ending in n’t such as haven’t

Examples:
1. He is definitely not here.
2. She never help me in doing my assignments.
3. They are certainly not coming.
4. There is undoubtedly nothing special about him.
5. Eating is strictly not allowed inside the computer laboratory.

E. Discussing new concepts and practicing Group Work


new skills #2 The teacher will ask five questions. Let the students write their affirmative and negative
responses using the adverbs of affirmation and negation. Students will be given one minute to
answer every question. After which, they will be asked to raise and read their written answers.
