CHAPTER I
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
Background of the Study
Business is an organization that involves professional activities that has
a huge factor in the economy. It entails with exchange of goods or services for
another or for cash. A business can either be for profit use or nonprofit
organization, it depends on the objectives of the said enterprise. Building a
business is not as easy other people may think, it requires creative ideas,
money, patience and a lot of efforts. This field is flexible and requires an
accurate planning management to prevent business failure.
Starting up a new business is always challenging, no matter how old you are.
Even though work careers begin after the completion of schooling. The reality
is most students are workers. A third or more high school students are
currently employed as the majority of college students. (Bureau of labor
statistics, 2005a).
Too many aspiring entrepreneurs get caught up in their lack of money,
expertise, resources, connections, etc. They focus solely on where they are
currently instead of what they can become. One of the best lessons I learned
was that I had to let go to grow. It wasn’t until recently that I realized why
some innovators and young entrepreneurs are successful at such an early age,
while others make minimum wage. (Lowisz, 2017)
We as younger generation, we take risk most of the time. We need
money to support our wants by doing small business. Some teenagers try to do
online selling to have an extra income. Also, it may start out from school
activity such as business implementation that turn into an actual business.
This research deals with entrepreneurship, specifically about how youth
engages with different start up teenage business. Youth is immersed to build a
business because of the huge impact of entrepreneurship in their lives
although this is flexible. There are many factors influencing the teenagers to
establish a business and one of its factors is the general situation of the
economy. Some factors might be particularly affiliated to this age group. We,
as ABM students, are very interested to the response of our dear schoolmates
regarding teenage business and we want to build a concrete conclusion for this
issue.
Statement of the problem
We are expecting that the businesses that the teens will go beyond the
expectations of the people. We expect that they are going to be consistent in
making different ideas in their businesses
Some of the adults will question the capability of the teenagers to start
up a business. The age and experiences of their competitors is the struggle for
them to overcome in the business. The capital is not as big as the others
because there is just a less amount of time to work for it.
Theoretical Framework
Education is the clearest path to individual opportunity and societal
growth and entrepreneurship education is especially vital to fuelling a more
robust global economy. Entrepreneurs bring new ideas to life through
innovation, creativity, and the desire to build something of lasting value.
Therefore we must continually foster educational cultures within our
companies, governments, and communities to keep the entrepreneurship
pipeline filled for generations to come. - Dirk, Meyer, President ND CEO,
AMD Entrepreneurship education should contribute raising pupils and
students awareness of self-employment as a career option. The message that
you can become not only an employee, but also an employer. Students must
believe in their capabilities and ability to create wealth and jobs and
understand how education and entrepreneurship activity may stimulate each
other, not the opposite. Entrepreneurship programs and activities helps young
people to be more creative and self-confident in whatever they undertake. This
thesis identify and evaluate the knowledge and skills of young entrepreneurs
bring to their business.
Conceptual Framework
Teenagers' start-up business can be both advantageous as well as
disadvantageous to the young entrepreneurs According to research, although
the average of an entrepreneur is between 25-45 years old, people are starting
business at younger and younger ages. Why are younger people deciding to go
into business, often before they have acquired work experience, and in some
cases without attending university?
According to Miller (1897), the intents of a conceptual framework are
threefold. First objective is to narrate existing practice, second objective is to
prescribe future practice; and the third objective, to clarify key terms and
fundamental issues. The conceptual framework should provide the basis for
future arguments especially in relation to prescriptions for future practice and
definitions of key terms, concepts and fundamental issues.
This section aims to produce the broad outline of key terms, notion and basic
issues that can be used to exhibit the overview of the research and the debating
issues regards with the problem.
